Concept album would be perfect! The album that came the closest to a concept album in my opinion was The Ragpicker's Dream. Would be nice if he could do something like that again.

Jackal, maybe going to a show this time if the album suits you?  ;)

I awoke this morning with the feeling that something fantastic had happened last evening.  Then I remembered why!    No, it wasn't The Eurovision Song Contest!  ::)

Yes a new MK DOUBLE ALBUM!!   8)   :D

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day
I've got a beautiful feeling
Something wonderful's coming my way!       (on 3rd September)

BTW  I really like the cover art.

LE,

Yeah, this time I'm considering going, even if the album would be disappointing. Might be the last chance to see him :)

London is on my radar for 2013 again. After Hannover 2011 was sooo great I will probably choose that venue again, Hamburg is a must for me, and Oberhausen so easy to reach... makes 4 shows minimum - if I chose to go to more than one show in London it will be an expensive autumn for sure...
And the idea of probably seeing him the last time has come to my mind, too. (In fact, the double album itself could be some kind of "cleaning up my song pocketbook")

I dont think he'll ever stop as long as he physically can. He may just wind it down rather than going across the planet.

I started a thread a few months ago hinting that the new album was going to be something else given the time, people involved and care taken over it. Looks like we're not going to be disappointed. With so many tracks to salivate over, surely the set list for whatever tours are in the pipeline are going to get a refresh. Wonder if there will be a single release ready to tease us? Wonder if the 'killer song' left off GL has made the cut? Wonder if the box set will have a live CD of Mark's contribution to the Dylan tour. I wonder, wonder, wonder! God, three months to go - that long! Ouch!

Breathtaking heart-stopping earth-shaking news!!! Thank you!!!
A security guard said it was total foolishness on our part to attend the show in the rain. We laughed and said we were indeed the most foolish folks in the world. --Tee, JTO

Yeah, now we're talking! High time Mark would break out of the mould and do something different. I just hope it will not be a regular Mark album x 2, but that he exploits the 2CD format and makes some kind of concept out of it. All in all I'm excited. This time I'll try to stop myself from listening to snippets and just buy the album in its "virgin state".
you saying this will be his "the Wall"?  ::)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Bluebird is a song from Paul McCartneys Band On The Run album which was recorded on one of those famous boards at British Grove... Just thinking...

But it would be a real surprise if MK would put a cover version on one of his own records, wouldn't it. Might be a good question for Guy! What do you think?  8)

Good thought, but I doubt it. Guy said this in November, when answering to a question about recording Forever Young in the studio:

Mark doesn't do cover versions on his records.

It might of course have changed :)

I think he will have loads of posts about this news already but will not be able to post them before Monday, when the "official" information has been put out.

Quote Fletch: We already know the title song, what sort of art might it invoke? I'm imagining the band posing on a tallship deck, all drunk on Rum! Lol.
