If the sound is SO loud that the music cannot be heard, it is not good.   When I saw the Clapton show, that I mentioned earlier, I was really desperate to hear the songs that I loved, but I couldn't hear them because of the extremely high volume!

i agree, the perfect mix is loud (means you feel the bass and the drums) but clear and not distorted. dylan

When I go to a concert I want to hear the music in my head, not my stomach!   If I wanted body punishment I would take up boxing or wrestling!    What is the point of going to a concert to hear beautiful music, if it can't be heard!!    ::)

i did not say "only bass" - but caused by the new technics of PA, the bass is not in the front rows, physically logic. you have more bass in the back of a venue as bass is "extending" through a room, in front rows there can

I'm a sucker for first row (about 80% of my MK concerts have been at first row), why?

Because I like the way I actually don't hear the mix but instead the "raw" sound coming from the amps and the instruments, as if they were playing together in the same room. Imho, the true live experience. And being a guitar aficionado I enjoy everytime when I can get as close to MK's legendary guitars as possible   :)

Silly, I know  :P

I have been front row most times too and I love being there, so close to MK and the band - remember Bournemouth Ingrid?   8)

I agree with Ingrid - I loved hearing the beautiful quiet parts of songs and also to hear Mark's voice, so soft at times, just barely whispering some lyrics almost to himself.   Those things would be destroyed with blistering sound volume.

Thanks for so many information. If I understand you correct, a MK-concert in one of the first rows is ok, a MK/BD-concert better in one of the back rows (or earplugs). Leaving the concert before BD starts is not possible for us, because my husband is a big big big BD-Fan....
