Thanks all, it was more about the term "original" - seems to be another one of these language things... None of the songs you and Val listened (maybe as you said apart from "You Cant Beat The House) is an "original" blues track. Mark has never done a really clear and simple original version of anything. It is all mixed up, a melange of everything and so on and so forth. So I just wondered what exactly was meant by the term "original". Just take the first few Dylan albums - it seems Bob did use a lot of blues standards for his first songs. Marbletown seems to be the only MK track that is really "original".

It is all very promising, nevertheless!

Original used in this context would simply mean a blues written by Mark, rather than a cover. This is my interpretation, anyway, but it seems reasonable since covers are common in blues.

Marbletown, by the way, has some similarites to Dylan's Hollis Brown song, at least the riff (at double speed!). Like so many of Mark's songs, it is bluesy but not a straight blues.

Gee, I never thought of "Marbletown" being derived, even in part, from "Hollis Brown".

But then Dylan has done the same sort of thing.

You're most welcome  :)

I hope there will be some blues on the album. I'm a bit worried that tunes may still be left off.

I think it's a great song with a lot of subtle energy in it - it's really "hot" - listen to it again if you haven't done so. I wish he would make some more songs with that energy in it on his recent work.

Okay, so it's up to our German and Swiss friends to give us very extensive reviews of every song now since you lot get it first!  Promise? ;)

I will try and deliever the best I can! But I really think that we all will be able to listen to the album long before August 31st... Not that I have any signs but that's the way it goes. It would be a real bad sign for MK if his new album did not leak...

But in a perfect world, it will be a pleasure for me to report my first impressions! It's all your fault, don't forget!!  ;D

Last time, early descriptions and impressions about Get Lucky were very great and nicely done by our member TommyJ88. Haven't heard from him ever since which is a pity.   :'(  He nailed the Get Lucky tracks the same as I thought about it (was that right..guess not....  ::) )
