Val, not legally, I'm afraid, so I won't post any links here. But a search for Chris Botti and the album title will yield quick results.

(Just for the record, whenever I download something from "unofficial" places, I delete it after I've listened to it. For me it's like going to a record shop and ask to listen to a CD. And if I like it, I buy it.)

I have also listened to the whole album, and I think it's really nice. I will consider buying it. Definitely a Christmas gift for my dad.

Sorry, but despite being a Knopflerite since the early 1980's, this does nothing for me! Much prefer the original by Louis!

Hi Jackal -  I have just been trawling the web and I can find some places to download the album, but I will wait for the official release.  Thanks anyway!    :)

"What a Wonderful World" will be Louis' song forever - nothing and nobody will ever change that - he owns the song!    It was very interesting, though, to hear MK's take on the song and I feel that he made a very good job of it in his own, rather cosy, singy- speaky, way!  The trumpet, piano and guitar sounded pretty good too!   :)

Is any of the other guys involved in the song? Is it Mark's musicians?

Guy has said that Jim Cox arranged the song, so I would think he played the piano part too.  It sounds as though there are some strings there as well, so maybe it was done when the string orchestra came to BG.  I may be wrong, but they don't sound like synthesized strings to me.   :)

Sounds good, but wait until you hear Tango Suite with Herbie Hancock on the same album.

Where can we hear that?     ???

Thank you Jackal, much appreciated!   I enjoyed it very much, even though I'm not the greatest jazz fan in the world!  I'm sure I will like it even more after a few spins!   :)

:)

TWM mentioned Kind of Blue by Miles Davis earlier. This maybe my favorite track on that record.

Wow, what a nice surprise! Chris Botti and MK, an unusual, yet interesting collaboration. I've known Chris before, he accompanied Paul Simon on his "Born At The Right Time" tour in 1991 along with Steve Gadd and - of course - the great Michael Brecker. Check this out:

If Chris also plays on MK's new album then I'm sure he will add some very tasteful sounds to MK's.

Jackal - Thanks for "Flamenco Sketches"!  It was really beautiful - perfect late evening listening, infact I'm drifting off already!   ;)  Note to me - I must explore Miles Davis further!   :)

The amount of people at Paul Simon's concert in the park is just incredible. Think it was about 100,000. Just insane.

Val, if you like soothing jazz like that, you should also check out Stan Getz (most famous from playing sax on Girl from Ipanema). One of the best sax tones ever.

Thanks for the video(s)! Sounds great, now I'm going to buy the whole album. Before this "teaser" I did intent to buy just the MK/Chris Botti track at amazon.

Now make yourself a cuppa and enjoy the upcoming 25 minutes:

(Miles Davis (flh, tp) Emmett Berry, Johnny Coles, Louis Mucci, Clyde Reasinger, Ernie Royal (tp) Jimmy Cleveland, Bill Elton, Frank Rehak (tb) Rod Levitt (vtb) Bob Northern, Julius Watkins (frh) Bill Barber (tu) Eddie Caine, Romeo Penque (fl) Danny Bank (bcl) John Coltrane (ts, as) Wynton Kelly (p) Paul Chambers (b) Jimmy Cobb (d) Gil Evans (arr,? cond) Robert Herridge (ann) 1959)
And she's sitting in her Lusso, in the early morning sun.
