The clip was short, so it's difficult to judge, but my impression is that Mark has gone for a different angle on the song, as one would hope (expect, even). It is so easy to find oneself following the cadence of a well-remembered version from one's past. Mark's vocal changes the points of emphasis within the lyric.
As many of you will know, McCartney has recently released an album of favourite songs from his own youth. This is understandable and, in a way, commendable but, in Macca's case, some of the songs don't really sound like him. Mark, at least, has avoided that trap, as far as we can hear from this short clip.
Does anyone know if, vocally,Mark just contributes this section of the song or is there more of the lyric from him?
Also, are there any indications that he might have been delving into the Great American Songbook?
Finally, a suggestion for the ladies. If you wish to apply "Fifty Shades of Grey" here, why not start a "Cool Drools" thread? Just an idea!
