Haven't listened to Chris in a long time, but, man, his slide playing is fabulous!

If you open the video in YouTube, the channel owner has created a playlist containing the entire concert. Great stuff. The bass player plays a solo on Dobro (not slide) at some point. Sounds fantastic. Chris' later stuff sounds really a lot better than his earlier pop stuff.

Did you know that he wanted to become a journalist as a teenager? Would love to see him team up with Mark for a project.

A journalistic project for old times sake? MK writing about Chris Rea and vice versa?   
At a 100 guitar player countdown, some time ago MK was somewhere in the 80th position and the writer mentioned something like "Rea would be willing to see MK's shoe shine" or something like that, not degrading but demeaning. Like this is a competition or these lists have any meaning. Rea's slide is terrific, quite distinctive amongst others.

I think Rea said something like "I'd like to stick a white flag in his [Mark] shite". Still don't know what he meant by that.

Quite puzzling these buggers! Maybe they do it on purpose to make people like us waste time over the internet, trying to figure out what it's all about.
I wonder whether the Stravinsky and Mahler had exchanged such comments in their days.

I think it was in one of the music or guitar magazines. Maybe a list of guitarists, and if memory serves me right, I think Chris' comment was used in that context. I guess the comment was an expression of admiration, but I must admit it sounds a bit odd.

The story behind Stony Road is that he got to know a girl called Katie who I think was from Germany & also a cancer sufferer,when he had cancer & she gave him a stone as a sort of thing to draw strength from when he was down,in the lyrics he relates to me & katie dancing down th estony road.Anyway the whole stony road album is based on his sickness & God etc but its not like a gospel choir or anything. I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago when he was on that tour & you couldnt meet a nicer guy. IMO this is the best version you will ever hear of I can hear your heart beat,I saw it live in Dublin & he blew the roof off the place ...........enjoy.

Yes, nice version, never heard before. I am sure Chris had the live version of Tunnel Of Love (from 1985) in mind when I made this quiet music parts with the piano in the middle. Which is great and not meant with any disrespect from my side. His voice is totally unique and one of the unmistakable ones.
