Hi there!

For me it is option 3.

Before the tour began, BD was that guy with a harmonica from the sixties to me, "Blowin' In The Wind" and so on. I didn't listen to his music. And I thought of dropping the chance to see MK & BD together on this tour. But in the end the recent tour gave me an opportunity to explore the work of this living legend by reading his lyrics and buying some CDs as well. Now I do even like his rough voice and the way he performs. Things have certainly changed for me. Thanks Mark!

And she's sitting in her Lusso, in the early morning sun.

As with almost all polls, this was imperfect as no one answer suitably expressed what some wanted to say.
The first answer would be the closest choice for me but in reality I am more enthusiastic about Bob than ever before because of the two shows I caught at the end of the tour.
I truly feel lucky to be alive in the same century as Bob Dylan. He has few if any peers and is still delivering at 70.

I really don't know what else to say. A year and a half ago I decided to stop bothering to collect EVERY live recording of Bob, as his 2010 output disappointed me in large.
I have spent part of tonight making sure I download EVERY show available from this tour.

I always knew Bob is great, I have loved many of his albums for ages now, I knew he is "very special" when playing live but now I must say that I am surprised how much I am into his music these days - to be honest, since my Oberhausen show there is much more Dylan on my playlist than Mark - before the tour started, I had my daily Simfy dose of 2010 recordings - and it was only last week that I discovered that I hadn't heard any Border Reiver or Sultans of Swing (!) for nearly six weeks now... so yes, not only Bob in general, but Bob Live has made a great impression on me. I like his set lists, a lot of songs I used to hear sometime in the past were rediscovered, like Visions Of Johanna and so on. Whereas with Mark, I still have problems to judge this line-up as the best there ever was - Jim's piano is quite disturbing sometimes, the song STP was much better last year because of Matt, and Danny's playing fits more with MK's music and is missed, too, but the general energy level and more rocking approach is very welcome.

It was just a minute ago before I saw this new thread that I had watched the Forever Young clip for the 50th time or so, and I "really" and still get goosebumps (a word that I try to avoid because everybody gets shivers and goosebumps at every possible occasion all the time these days it seems) but it is meant literally: Mark's little gesture sums up the whole story about him and Bob, about the tour, about music, about song writing and respect and everything. I don't know which one I admire more at the moment, probably still Mark, he is such a cool bloke,  but Bob has won a lot through this tour, more than I would have expected before they played their first gig in Dublin.

Bob Dylan was always on my to hear list but the sheer amount of stuff he has put out kinda put me off.
However as I was going to a show on this tour i decided that i should try and get into it and there is tons of great stuff,a lot which he never plays live regularly. However I think to really appreciate Bob you needed to be a long time fan because to the casual listener its hard to make out at the show what he  is singing and appreciate what makes a good set list.So I enjoyed the show and I will listen to a recording of the show but basically my flirtation with Bob is over,I am not going to put on a BD album over MK or dare I say it here my first love and where I am a long term fan Bruce.

I voted for the first option, but I really wanted to vote for the last.

Has Bob ever had the "pleasure" of working with Phil?

Bob used to play guitar real well. Suze The Cough Song, is a great example of Bob doing the alternating bass/chord thing that Knop excels at.

Bob is still a shining star, and I'm grateful for the trilogy of Love & Theft, Modern Times, Tell Tale Signs. Magnificent albums in an industry teeming with trash.

There's the usual talk on ER of this being Bobs last tour, but who knows? He's old!

I think RB said it in his diaries - Dylan is the coolest 70 yr old on the planet.

He won't be around too much longer and if he ever plays in London again I'll be there. When I saw BD setlists at the start of the tour, I found out what CDs had the songs on, and I now have a large and v enjoyable bunch of Bob's albums in my collection.

He is an icon and as Guy said in his last diary entry "respect"! ;)

To me, having seen Bob live was like visiting a museum of modern art. You are curious and excited to find out what that arty object or painting you're about to look at is about, you are willing to let it sink in, as you have a certain sense for art. In the end, you accept it for what it is, and you understand why some people love it, but as much as you want to like it, you realise you prefer some nice Rembrandt or whatever paintings instead of an art installation by Joseph Beuys.

I have listened to Bob Dylan's music from almost the very beginning.  I was a member of several folk clubs in the early 60's and one evening our local band told us about this American folk singer, who was a protege of Woody Guthrie and they played one of his songs and that's when I started collecting his albums.   I can't say I was a real fan, though, definitely nothing like I am a fan of MK, but I did enjoy his songs and have been adding to my album collection over the years.

When it became apparent that MK would be touring with Bob, I knew I had to be there, firstly because I must see Mark and secondly, I hadn't ever seen Bob live, so this was a good opportunity to see both of them together.   I really hoped I would see them on stage performing side-by-side, but this was Manchester and it was not to be, unfortunately.

Quite frankly, when Bob came on stage at Manchester, the sound was so loud that I had to wear ear-plugs and I couldn't understand a word he said, let alone recognise the songs - these were songs I should have recognised, because I had the albums!  I didn't enjoy his part of the show one little bit, which was a great disappointment, because I went really hoping I would enjoy the experience!  I did like Bob's band a lot, though!

When the tour reached Europe and Mark began playing on the first few songs of Bob's set, I began downloading all of the available concerts and really enjoyed them.  I could even hear Bob's words a bit better on the recordings and could turn down the volume, which made it much more listenable.   Some of the songs on the recordings I didn't have in my collection, so I bought the rest of the albums I didn't have and now I almost have them all!

To be honest though, it is the part of the shows where Mark plays guitar that I listen to most on the downloads - he just makes it much more enjoyable for me and more palatable!   I still can't come to terms with Bob's voice, his guitar playing or his harmonica, so I would say that I was a fan of sorts in my youth and on and off throughout my life, but seeing him live has made me realise that I never want to see him again in concert - once was certainly enough.  I'll stick to listening to his albums and the bootlegs I have downloaded!

Seeing Bob on stage bore no resemblance to the feelings I have for MK when I see him in concert.  With Mark, I am in seventh heaven and like Rollergirl, I want to rush up and hug him!   I had no such feelings for BD - all I saw was a croaking old man!   Sorry Bob!    I do still like his songs a great deal and, of course, he is a great lyricist, a poet!

I will abstain from voting, because nothing fits how I feel!     Is there a box for "Was a sort of fan, but after seeing the shows, was disappointed" ;D    I suppose, like Rollergirl, I should vote "Don't know"!   :)
