When I first got the video promo of "Series of Dreams" (1991), which I got from a musicbiz contact, it had the whole thing including the full credits. I noticed, at the end, a very long number. Even though it had no spaces in it, it looked like it started with a Los Angleles area code. So, as I was very impressed with the promo (clearly put together by a Dylan fan, I waited a few hours to allow for the time zone difference and called the number. It was indeed the video production company and the guy told me about filming the very brief sequence with Dylan in New York. When I aksed about the rest, he told me it had actually been done by a guy in Dublin and gave me the number. It now being very late here, I called Dublin the next day and it was another video organization, this time part of the U2 set-up. Charlie, the guy in question, was off sick but, some days later, we got to talk about the how the video was put together, which was very interesting.
Later that year, my wife and I went to Dublin for the DS concerts at The Point. Charlie had invited me to call in advance the next time I was due to visit Dublin, so I did. Charlie picked us up from our hotel and took us on a tour of the city (with Lightning Hopkins cassettes in the car) and then to lunch in the restaurant at The Point. Mark and the band were nowhere to be seen but Christie Moore walked right by our table, as we sat there.
We also got to blag our way into the press reception for the ON EVERY STREET album (again no DS members around) but the (very dubious) point of this story is to provide another, if rather far-fetched, link between Mr Bob and Mark.
