Hi from an internet cafe still in Oberhausen! Funny to read this thread after being there, it seems Pottels mobile had some energy left...
I left, too, but not because of Bob... I thought he was great - but during the break I felt a headache coming up... must have been the bad and too warm air in the venue, so after Bob had played half of his set, it got worse with me and his harmonica was so loud that I felt my head was about to explode in the next minutes so I left at the beginning of AATW... Have not missed too much.
So sorry to all the nice people I met, Ingrid, Pottel, Marc96, Dennis, Jeroen van Tol, and all the other ones... I was about to meet you after the concert again but "I had to leave out in a hurry..." trying to get to the bus before they close the door... and get some aspirin...
Mark was absolutely faszinating. I cant understand how he is doing it: Getting better and better. The new LP sounds really awesome, he got standing ovations and applause d u r i n g the Hill Farmers solo. However, he was looking a little bit tired although they had a day off, but he was not SOUNDING tired at all. I loved the whole thing and was so glad to be just exactly at that place in that moment.
The sound was phantastic, too, his voice is really great, I heard not one single little greenie (I am sure others did). I was about to ask him if he wants to marry me if you know what I mean... In my next life I want to be one of Marks guitars...
Then Bobs set: His band was very happy to see Mark with them, you could see that it meant something to them to have this great artist on stage. Mark seemed a little shy and played his ass off, and it sounded great. #Not sure if everybody in the audeence noticed how special and great it was to hear them play Blind Wille! The audience seemed a little bored during bobs set, Mark had received much more energy and cheer. I thought bobs fans were rushing to the stage from song number one one, but the security guards were real assholes. Ingrid will tell you about them, too!
Sorry I have a problem with this pc editor ehere...
so thats it for short, I am still in a very good mood, Mark gives you something with his pure appearence that leaves you inspired for days and weeks.
But once again:
Bob was not bad, I thought his singing was sharp, clear, poewrful and good as in earlier years. He had some good energy #on stage but shouwed also some strange manierisms like touching his hair/curls all the time, touching his face, treying to get rid of his sweat, and making strange moves with his legs all thime. And his keyboard playing was the most unusual thing: I had the impression of a child trying to be funny, he never played good or cool, it always reminded me of Guys "Calling Elvis" competition fun piece he had some years ago if you know what I mean. I saw some women looking really disturbed and consternated when he did that. Bis band howeer really played well, that guitar guy didnt change his coguitar once during the whole set and he really needs a hair cut or his neck will break some day...
So that was it for now finally,
all the best,
LE
