Fair enoughsky  ;). Don't know if you remember but I was known by my real name Mike Child on th MKNews forum - we met briefly at the BIC on the Get Lucky tour. Hopefully see you on the next one...which, with any luck, shouldn't be all that long from now!

If I'd flown all the way from Australia for a concert and had to listen to 'fans' slagging off the artist they don't like while they perform I'd be seriously p!seed off! :disbelief

Sort of glad I didn't take the adventure now. Of course if the tour comes to Aus that's different.
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

Hmm, leaving out the rocky Corned Beef City and Speedway does not seem like progression to me  :-\

Hearing people say things unsupportive of an opening act always distresses me, especially as the headliner in most cases CHOOSES who they want to open for them. 'Fans' can be asses for sure. It will piss me off if I am around any neanderthals yelling thing out at Mark when I go. Then again I'm sure it bothers the band less, as Guy himself said in his blog, it is like old times for them, trying to win over new fans...

re: Dylan, the folks I know who are going to see Bob have been thrilled with the shows thus far, those expecting Bob of a different era will always be let down. I wouldn't be surprised or put off by Dylan 'fans' grumbling in Manchester, pretty sure they did in '66 as well ;)

My hope is that by Hammersmith half the fans will come late for Bob only, half will leave early after Mark and I will be up close with room to bop around all evening in the GA shows ;D ;D ;D

Really surprised some people have been shocked by Dylan's voice.

Its no secret hes very hit and miss now, infact hes struggled with his voice since the 90's!!

I expected the worst but was pleasantly surprised. Sounds like some folk expected Dylan of 1966 or 1975.

I mean I cant believe anyone paid

I wasn't expecting him to be Dylan of the 60's. I'd like to make that clear. I don't think it unreasonable though to expect top level sound and at least to be able to understand a few words.
I won't argue against anybody that says I have been a bit niaeve (sorry if that is spelt incorrectly) as you're clearly correct. I have been, accepting that fact does nothing towards removing the bitter taste from my mouth concerning this show.

I'm Glad you're happy with what you've got for your money Tunnel85 but I cannot agree.
The fact is that I am a fan of both these artists. Mark Knopflers set was great, the sound was spot on and the quality was excellent.
Bob Dylan, the headline act here had a dreadful sound, maybe it's because they didn't cater for the lower (or upper for that matter) tier nearest the stage. Usually by providing the sideways facing monitors as they did with Knopfler and every other headline act i've ever seen play there. It matters not. The quality was sub standard. I paid what I consider a premium price for what should have been a premium event and the standard of sound production for the headline act ultimately meant that this was not the case. my critique of Bob Dylans performance is also not my main issue with this overall event. I don't count his performance as a bonus because I paid to see it. Had I paid to see knopfler only and then Dylan turned up out of blue and did an hour then yes, i'd be over the bleedin' moon but he didn't, I paid to see him.
What I think is a fair price to watch Mark Knopfler or Bob Dylan is neither here nor there. As far as I am concerned the service provided did not represent value for money therefore my complaint letter to M.E.N. is in the post. I have other bones of contention with the venue with regards to being 'Torch faced' about 15 times throughout the evening due to mr text in front of me. Something I pointed out to the steward in the interval only to 'torch faced' more frequently once Dylan started and i didn't even see anyone with a phone or camera anywhere near me!
All I wanted to do was go and enjoy this show, I wouldn't have shelled out for it otherwise it is easily the most I have outlayed on a live music show because I thought it would be worth it. For a number of reasons it did not live up to expectation and a number of those reasons I believe were under the control of the event organsers and venue itself. As a consumer I have a right to complain and as such I have excersised that right.
Anyway, It's done. I won't mention anything further about it. I obviously expect more for my hard earned than some people and that is fair enough. Life would be plain boring if we were all the same.  ;D

Funny that on the previous few MK tours I've always wished they'd turn him up a bit!  Sounds like you're turning into Victor Meldrew!

Anyway, the sound in Glasgow#1 was pretty poor where I was standing on Cleaning My Gun and Corned Beef City where MK's guitar was inaudible.

I'm not really a BD fan and only have two of his albums (guess which ones ;D) but I quite enjoyed his set.  Nothing special and I wouldn't see him again but there were a few songs that were really pretty good and he was in better voice than I've heard in video clips etc.
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."
