I received 26-33 last week from Ian Lewis.
But just incase anyone thinks i'm dragging my heels in sending them back out again, so far i have tried to burn 26,27,&28, and each time right at the end, it says there is a burn error.
But i have tried to watch the ones i have burnt, and they seem ok, which seems a bit strange.
Has anyone else had this problem.?
Just incase i thought it may be a problem with my Nero express, or Dvd burner, i tried copying some other Dvd's, (not OUATITTV ones) and these copied fine with no errors. ???
I will burn the rest tomorrow, but i don't want to send them to Joko, if it means he will have problems as well.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

some hints and questions ...

1. what was exactly the error message ... read error / write error / or something else ?
2. when did you get the error ... before or after writing the lead-in/lead-out ?
3. did you ask Ian, if he had errors burning the dvd's he sent to you ?
4. eventually it is a problem of the media Ian used ... means that your dvd device can't read all data correctly. what type of blank CDs were used ( yours and Ian's ) ?
5. you said, you watched all discs you have burned. have you watched really the whole dvd's or only in parts ?
6. and  more important ... you should watch one of the discs Ian sent to you on your pc and/or on a standalone player. Because you will get mostly no problems watching a dvd with the same device you burned it

it's really strange ... especially as it concerns three dvds of the set ( and presumably also the rest )
so let's try ... hope it can help to resolve the problem.

:(  Do the discs I sent you play okay BBB?  I didn't have any errors at the time of copying.  The media I use is un-branded, so not the highest quality unfortunately :(  I'm on holiday for a week now, but if this is still an issue and it turns out it's the discs I burnt then I will happily do them again.  I've almost used up the discs which are un-branded, I will buy some better quality ones next time around for vine stuff.

Come to think of it I used the same discs for the MP3 vine which I sent to Simon.  Have you had any problems Simon?

I mailed the DVDs to Dan yesterday.   BBB, FYI, I didn't get any errors when I was burning; I also used Nero Express.  I started watching them. :D  I always love the experience of seeing 'new' video of MK that I've never seen before.
It's hard sometimes but pretty much it's alright

Right folks.........
Re. Discs 26-33.
I have tried burning all discs on my dvd burner using Nero Express, all say 'error reading data'
So i used my dads dvd burner, still it says 'error reading data'
And i also used my friends dvd burner. Still the same error occured. :(
I've tried using Sony, Kodak and Phillips discs + & -, but still no luck.
The discs Ian sent me i can watch fine, but i just can't seem to copy.
Just as a test, i tried copying 2 other random discs from other various discs in my MK collection, both copied fine.

At the start of the burn process it said.....

Burn process started

Booktype auto set to Dvd-Rom

Error reading data

Un-recoverable read errorat LBA 846592 (number varies depending on what disc)

Burn process failed.

I feel really bad, because i can't complete my part of the vine for Joko.

I don't know what discs Ian used, because they are completely blank, with no brand name on them.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Cheers   BBB

Just to let the people in the vine which I have participated in know, the copies I made from Fran's origional disks were done on TDK DVD-R, 1-16x speed Inkjet printable disks.

NOTE: Folks is it time to introduce a standard quality disk which we should all be able to purchase for future vines? We would need to vote after some good technical evaluations. We could start a poll at the top of the Audio and Video vines boards?

PS We expect to post the rules for Vines on A.M.I.T. this weekend.

@shangri-la

one thing is important ... we all should not only pay attention to the brand name of DVD'S. instead we should find out the REAL manufacturer of the DVD's we use. even a known brand name does not ensure, that the discs are always from the same manufacturer ... and not all manufacturer produce really good quality discs.

I would use the free software dvd-identifier ( http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ ) which will show you - among other things - the REAL manufacturer of a dvd.

we could concentrate to some manufacturers and by that way everybody could check his own DVD before copying.

Thanks for your input Joko the link is a handy site folks lets have some more discussion. Maybe we can ask for All members to list a couple of brands of CD - DVD's etc which they use, then we could maybe narrow it down to a couple of each for everyone to look out for. Joko is there any way to determine the REAL manufacturer from the packaging?

yes, it would be very helpful to get many brand names and there REAL manufacturers.
no, I see no chance to identify the REAL manufacturer from packaging ... on the package ( and only on the package ) you can see in which state they are produced (japan, taiwan, china, india, etc. ), but that can be additionally another criterion for good or bad quality ... that means you can get the same brand made in different states.
so far as I know, are discs produced in india not the best.

P.S. the next two weeks I'm on holiday ... no internet.
