New film score?
« on: August 19, 2011, 08:28:33 AM »
After rumours about the "Homage to Catalonia" soundtrack, that looks like abandoned, today I found this:

Pat O'Connor was also the director of "Cal", so that could be a little hint for MK to say "Yes".

I honestly hope he has said "No",  because for me, his soundtracks are great but they usually mean a delay for the "real" thing which is "real" album and tour. His film work sometimes seems "half arsed" (just listen to "He's The Man" or "All That I Have In The World"). A little guitar here and there to recognize it is from MK and ready... Just my opinion of course, and there are some exceptions like "Wag The Dog", but in general I would be fine with MK never doing any soundtrack again.  ;)

He has so much time off and things move at such a slow pace these days that surely a soundtrack can't hurt but it has come along at a bad time.

I feel a bit like you though LE regarding his soundtracks and WtD was good as was the film itself.

Music for the soundtrack usually takes place after the film is almost finished, so I bet it wont disturb MK too much, I

What song does this picture remind you of?  ;)

No release date or anything, it is all in the very beginning.

Exactly!  :D Nice that you found out. I mailed the link to Guy, hope he sees the relation, too. (As it is a war-related question, I hope that  Mr. Dent will be alright with my question, too!  :disbelief  :lol)

I think I know what is wrong with Roland - he has wind-upitis!   At present he's winding Guy up mercilessly with shed questions!  :lol

Oh, Guy answered already. That was fast. You will all have a look yourself of course, but, for the record, here's his answer:

I'm not sure what the state of play on that is. I have heard that, yes but as you are aware, there is a heavy schedule approaching.

Thank you Guy, for answering so fast! Your forum is a great place indeed.

So that's no No!  :D

I guess it is official as the news has been confirmed at MK News.
...Well, he's a big star now but I've been a fan of his for years. The way he sings and plays guitar still bring me to tears...

I have googled a little bit. The film is planned for release in December 2011...

And 'Homage to Catalonia' film is not abandoned, it still has "pre-production" status.

Shooting kicks off at the end of the month with East Anglian locations standing in for the West Country.

If shooting starts at the end of this month (I guess thats what it means) its very unlikely that the film could be released in december and the music score in january 2012, unless the info in that article is wrong.
