I guess that they will put on air some of the old Dire Straits stuff and thats all. I hope that they call MK for a propper live show when the new record is released, but for now, I guess it will be just that  :)

It looks like the episode with Mark is recorded on 15 September.

The show with Brian May on 21 Sep, next Thin Lizzy, next Mark?

The Thing About Hank

Tuesday 11 October
1.30-2.00pm BBC RADIO 4

Hank Marvin influenced a generation of guitarists including Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler and Phil Manzanera.

In The Thing About Hank they, together with Cliff Richard, reveal the influence he had with his wide grin, black specs and red Stratocaster. The programme also features the man himself, Hank Marvin.

The programme explores Marvin's unique sound, which Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page reveals he tried hard to emulate as a teenager. And Page was not the only aspiring guitar hero adapting Hank's style. Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits recounts his school days explaining how he and his pals learnt The Shadows' tunes after class.

And Cliff describes how he purchased Hank's first Fender Stratocaster, imported from America. Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera believes this "Strat" guitar was crucial to the Hank Marvin sound that became a key feature of The Shadows' success.

And Hank himself talks through The Shadows' "walk", copied by teenagers throughout Britain.

Thank you so very much for the teasing info. It would be a big favour, let alone very kind, to have it on youtube or other sharing internet site, for all interested that can't have the live pleasure.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
