I never understood falling asleep/being bored during someone's opening set. All you have to do is sit through it or go get a drink if you're so inclined.

But don't bash them; I remember the Mellencamp Tours with Bob (yes, once again John turns up; he's everywhere  :lol ) everyone had something to say about the poor guy. Just wait for awhile and enjoy the set as it is a famous singer in any case.

and if your man plays first you can find the exit doors after their set.

I see this as possibly a rotating night tour: each artist opening/closing alternative nights ala the 1999 Bob Dylan/Paul Simon tour.

Also, Mark just touring with Bob as a member of his band is rubbish. He would never do this; no matter how much respect he has for someone.

Also, it is highly unlikely they will share the stage on songs. Bob & Elvis Costello 2007 was just a whim. Both love each other immensley and they were having fun on this tour.

and as I stated above; Mark will debut some songs from the new album; just to test the waters on them.

Yet, if they do share the stage; here's hoping for Infidels songs and some old Folk Ballads which Bob is keen to and (he) enjoys Mark singing :)

imagine them two performing Blind willie, finally as it was meant to be :-)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Pottel - "Blind Willie" would make it all worthwhile, played as it originally was intended!

Meanwhile I just hope we will have the usual arrangements about tickets with MK.com.   I was reading from ISIS that they think MK fans are not happy with the present system.   I hope it isn't changed, because I think it works very well indeed!   :)

...There is one report, uncorroborated and unconfirmed, that the tour will open in Dublin and there is even a rumour that Dylan may precede the tour with a small club warm-up date. Whether Knopfler has any similar plans is unclear but nothing has been confirmed.

any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

That "Don't fall apart on me tonight" clip is really great.

LOL Jackal, wait till you see the clip of the song License To Kill!  :P I am sure some of our fans must have a copy somewhere and can post it at youtube again! ;) I had a link of that video, but it doesn't work anymore because of rights!

Welcome to AMIT shooting_Star_Night! Reading the message of Superval, I assume you have a forum about Bob Dylan?  ::)

well the BD fans are upset because they are only getting half a show of Bob and the MK fans are happy because this is really a bonus tour though what either can acheive in an hour is beyond me,hopefully a min of one and a half hours of each.Hope its not themed in some way but that both can play whatever they want anytime.Call me cynical bet its annouced and then cancelled a week or two later.

I really don't know how this would work out.

Someone on the Dylan forum said that if the Bob&Mark tour happens, it will probably be a hit parade, which will probably be the most commercially reasonable solution if the general audience / casual fans are the target. But would the artists be happy and interested in this?

The Dylan purists and Knopfler nutters clearly want their artist to themselves, so, is a double-header tour with two distinct parts of the show an option? The general audience want Blowin in the wind and Money for nothing, which drives the puristst in either camp crazy, and possibly also the artists. The purists want the obscure "special interest" stuff, which will alienate the masses and possibly further increase the division between them.

If only Bob&Mark had had a joint project prior to the tour and there would have been some "hype" a la "two masters together for the first time in 25 years", then it would make sense. Otherwise, I'm still very skeptical.

MK has said and I believe him, that he wouldn't play a song for the sake of it or to please the masses. I doubt that will change for this tour. I think he will play what pleases him.

I just don't see what Mark or Bob would get out of this, so I hope it doesn't happen.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

We all know what Mark's set will be! Hehe

Donegans Gone
Done With Bonaparte
Song For Sonny Liston
Romeo & Juliet
Sailing To Philadelphia
Rudiger
Brothers In Arms
Going Home

Then maybe Mark & Bob will perform
one track together. Maybe 'Knocking On Heavens Door'

Anyone else agree!! ;) ;D :lol

Cheers. BBB

Sweet Mary and Joseph ... Does it get more boring? Cross out the songs in between and you get:
Donegans Gone

Exactly, that's my point!!
That would be the nightmare scenario setlist!
Of course my choice of setlist would be far removed
from that of the one I posted.
Give me a while, & I'll post my dream set.
