US Open Tennis
« on: September 08, 2008, 12:22:32 AM »
Apologies to our Spanish friends, but I just have to congratulate my fellow Scotsman Andy Murray on his success against World Number 1 Nadal at the US Open.

He now faces Federer in the final tomorrow, and Federer has had an extra day to recover, but still a brilliant achievement for Murray.  :)

Yes I must agree Dusty. Hope he can go all the way. I think Feds has had a good drink from the well and maybe it's time that someone with a greater thirst can take the prize. My wife is lapping it up at the moment, and giving me heaps cause no Aussie even got into the 2nd week.  ;)

Here's a good question, what do MK and McEnroe have in common?

Probably the ever uncool headband? A good thing MK's not wearing THAT anymore, doesn't have the need to keep hair out his eyes anymore anyway ;D

On McEnroe--simply practical.  On MK--cool, sexy, and adorable, and yes, practical.     Yes, MK did (maybe still does) play the occasional game of tennis.   I imagine he has a cooler head than McEnroe ever did.

Despite my Scottish roots and Glasgow accent, I cannot begin to like Andy Murray I'm afraid. Arrogant young man. Wouldn't pi.. on him if he was on fire! Federer is an all round better person and player, though now going past his best. He will be getting my support tonight. Sorry Dusty. :(

I can't pretend to know a lot about tennis, but I can't really see the problem with Murray. Yes, he's a bit dour in interviews but I get the feeling that he just can't be arsed with dealing with the media, whicj is understandable.

By all accounts Federer wasn't a barrel of laughs when he was younger either...

You will recall I did anticpate that outcome, still a great acheivement by the boy to beat Nadal and get to the final I say.

He's $1 million better off anyway.  :)

McEnroe was no sweetpea either.    Sorry everyone, about Murray.  Federer continues his reign.
