Yeah, after I read Guy's line about Jim's boring journey on a container ship to get back to the US after MK's accident, I thought, wow, MK really owes this guy something... Even if he couldn't anything about the crash...  :lol

If he couldn't fly to rehearsals, could he have managed the tour without flying? Also, the line up for the tour was confirmed, so guy called fats Kaplin or something was the second keyboard player. Very strange.

I remember very well the band-line for the cancelled RPD tour:

MK
Richard Bennett
Marcus Cliffe (bass)
Jim Cox
Guy Fletcher
Fats Kaplin (mandolin, fidle)
Danny Cummings (drums)

And I remember it very well because it was the first time that the bass player wasnt Glenn, and the first time the drums want Chad.

The return of "The best pedal steel player in the world, Paul Franklin" is great, plus if he tours with Mark, its adds to the chance that Mark might play You and Your Friend live again  :) plus, I always liked Paul's solo in Walk of Life.

No, no, noooo!!  ;D ;D ;D

Well remembered!  I still get angry about that cancellation to this day;  during the promo tour Mark seemed very happy and was playing very well.  The charity gigs in July were great too and we may have heard some rare songs with a bit of luck with the line up, so that tour could well have been the best solo tour.

It was strange when I learnt that Jim Cox wasnt available to tour for the SL tour in 2005 because of his ears problem, but he was in the band for the 2003 RPD cancelled tour... specially when he wasnt for the 2001 tour for the same reason, I though he was cured by 2003...

The way Guy was writing "You are ALL wrong" and "The big news is coming" and "it will be worth the wait" in one update really drives me crazy!
He is very courageous and puts his head a long way over the parapet... If if would be some Bap Kennedy stuff or any similiar I would really be disappointed...

It has to be something BIG!  :lol

The only big thing I can image is something related to DS.  A short DS-tour, or something like that.  But that would be very unlikely. The announcement of a new MK-tour or another soundtrack doesn't sound big enough to me and would be dissappointing in a certain way.

Lars

Maybe he's going on tour with Paul & Ringo? That would be BIG news.... I think the truth is going to be a let down.

As much as I would love a Dire Straits tour, I really can't see how that would happen. As Guy said a week ago:

I can assure you that there won't be a DS reunion. Why on earth would anyone think that given this line-up? The exact reason for the delay will soon be apparent.

That has always been his view on this topic, and now, with The Straits already touring, it seems even more unlikely to me...

To be honest, I would be very disappointed if it was a DS reunion.   I would feel that MK was not being true to what he has been saying for so long!   :-\

Still think it's a collaboration, just with someone who has been mentioned on Guy's forum yet.
