Hope this gives you some more information?

I downloaded the track "Flat Stuff" from amazon.de, to be honest just because of MK's solo, because I think the voice of Greg Brown is something you ...have to get used to... but I can assure you the solo is great! Short but great. If anything on MK's next album sounds like this I will be very happy. The whole song has exactly that kind of "Daniel Lanois"-feeling that we were talking about in another thread. And MK is able to fit in perfectly well into this!

Thanks Ustas and LE for the links. Have only heard the track on the site linked to and the previews on iTunes. Sounds really great. A bit of alternative country / Americana there. I get kind of tired of "simple" three-chord country music when listening to it much, but it is really refreshing after listening much to more complex music, jazz for example.

Totally agree with you that Mark's music and voice would fit this kind of production.

UPDATE: Just downloaded Flat Stuff to listen to Mark's solo. Good golly! Why the heck can't he play stuff like that on his own records???

I am no way a gear head or guitar man the slightest and I don't know who else was able to listen to the solo but I would think MK used his Don Grosh on this one?

Yeah, same kind of sound as on Piper to the end. My first guess is the Don Grosh, second guess a Les Paul with both pickups. Then again, the guy has so many guitars, you never know.

I'm really disappointed!   I tried to download, but was not allowed due to "geographical constraints"!    I will have to wait 'til it's available in UK!    :(    The bit I heard of Greg's voice, he sounded like Lee Marvin "Wanderin' Star"  ;D

Try iTunes, Valerie. That's where I did it.

Greg Brown sounds a bit like this guy, only after 200 years of whiskey and cigarettes.

Haha.

I can't find the download at the moment,
But from what I heard of his voice, he sounds
A cross between William Topley & Johnny Cash. ;D

I can't wait to hear the solo.

Cheers.  BBB
