I'm a bit disappointed as well. It's really sad that Mark's future plans are always such a huge mystery to us ordinary people. Nevertheless, I'm very thankful that every now and then some news get "leaked" by Guy and I'm sure that he is really careful when he is about to announce some MK-related information. So there could be more in the pipeline as well.

BTW, as I'm youtubing Mr. Kennedy right now - I'm absolutely p*ssed by these messages like "this video isn't available in your country".

If MK won't make a new record, I guess I'll just have to fall in love with this guy instead.  He is kind of cute ... don't you think, ladies?

no, sorry, he doesn't do it for me

Must say I do not care a fig about B. Kennedy so this news is totally uninteresting for me - and certainly something that hasn't been deserving such tenseness in the last weeks from Guy - in my opinion. I wonder why MK wastes his precious time to produce an album like this one... I thought producing other people is something he has left behind a long time ago...   :(

Bwahaha, he looks a bit like Rolf Zuckowski - whom I don't find attractive but I'd prefer him over BK  ;D

Bap Kennedy was the opening part in Paris in 2008... (also in London i think...)
I saw the end of the show, it was a duet with a pretty young guitarist who was brillant... IngridSwing may remind them... it was right after the M&G

I can't say that i really remember this show but i don't have a bad memory of him !!

Encouraging post on Guy's forum saying there is no guitarist booked for the Bap Kennedy sessions ...... that can only mean that MK will play on the album, right?  At this point, I'm afraid to get my hopes up ....... ???

Actually, maybe we are just spoiled kids :)

We have taken for granted that MK's very impressive production rate since 2000 (1 album every 2 years) would go on forever.

I don't think he ever made such a promise. Remember that we had to wait 4.5 years between GH and STP, and that even in the 2000s MK allowed himself exceptions: there were 3 years between SL and KTGC (ok, I'm being unfair here, as ATRR album can be considered as a MK album, and a very good one indeed !).
Even during DS days they were long breaks: 3 years between LOG and BIA; and 6 years between BIA and OES...

Mark has now made 6 solo albums, not even counting ATRR that could be included - that is, as many as DS albums. If I add the facts that:
- He may be disgusted with the reccurent criticisims of his pace going down and his style becoming too laid-back,
- He is over 60 and maybe does not want to tour until he is 70 like the Rolling Stones pretending to be 30 years old on stage... :)
- He has a *huge* career behind him and has well deserved a happy retirement,
- His back may still hurt,
- He may have other personnel projets in mind,

Then maybe we have to accept the fact that the Get Lucky tour may (or may not) be a farewell tour. I hope not, of course, but we have to respect his will... He gave up on DS to precisely do whatewer he wants, whenever he wants to. He has well deserved this freedeom !
Cheers

I just listened some of the LOT of mp3 Bap Kennedy has in his site, and I have to say that I like his music. It could be interesting, specially since Guy mentioned in his forum that there is no a guitar player hired for this sessions, does he means MK will do the guitars?

I hope so.

Bap Kennedy also opened several of the US shows on the Shangri-La tour in 2005. I saw one of them, but I don't remember much of anything about the music. I think it was all acoustic. What I do remember (sadly) was the drunk idiot that yelled out "play Money for Nothing!" during their set.  :lol

The latest from MK News:

BAP KENNEDY: Mark is currently recording an album with Bap Kennedy in London. The record will feature the following players:

Ian Thomas - drums
Glenn Worf - bass
James Walbourne - guitars
Guy Fletcher - piano, keyboards
John McCusker - fiddle
Mike McGoldrick - whistles

There are no plans for any release as yet.

No mention of Mark on guitar.   :-\      Nice to see John, Mike, Glenn and Guy, but no Danny!

Just a thought!    Most of the band will be at British Grove, with the exception of Richard, Matt and Danny, so maybe the Bap Kennedy album is just the beginning and the others will arrive later for an MK album!    After all, why bring Glenn all the way from US!   ;)

This is becoming more exciting --- 'recording an album with' Bap Kennedy is different than 'producing an album for Bap Kennedy'

 :) :) :)
