If only......
« on: June 15, 2010, 12:20:00 PM »
Just made myself a DIY concert by taking all the different tracks from my three forays into SIMFY (RAH, Frankfurt and Luxembourg.  Running list is:

BR, WAM, WII, STP, Coy, PW, CMG, HFB, R&J, SOS, DWB, Monte, DG, GL, Marble, SAN, TR, BIA, SFA, PTTE

Shame MK does't do this lot every night.  Sounds Great.

Hey Jimbo,

in fact I planned to do the same thing when I am back home from tomorrow's show and download the show, hoping that I will hear some new stuff!
Cleaning My Gun would be nice, also this new version of Donegan's Gone seems to be very good, and maybe Get Lucky. I will put them altogether with
my London show and have a great set list! Thank you to SimfyLive for this possibility!

Hey LE

Enjoy the show.  I'm very jealous.  The live versions of CMG and DG are really great.  Look forward to your review!

Cheers

Nice idea,

I remember that a few years ago I downloaded somewhere Shangri-la world tour compilation with recordings from passalong, and it was really nice compilation; 2 CDs were almost full...

Yeah, a fan has DIYed the US leg, and everyone can make their own compilation of SimfyLive recordings as long as he/she has several shows to choose.  I will do mine,  ;D  With all the songs played during this show, and the best performed songs selected by personal preferrence.  :lol  Hey, how many different songs has the band played so far?   Can 2CD hold them altogether?   :D

Hey, how many different songs has the band played so far?

The answer to this question can be found here http://omnitoes.com/mk/

24. Or 25 if you separate Going Home and Wild Theme. Or 26 if you include Ole Ole chant.

Edited to fix incorrect song count.

Great source, thanks, mr2bur.  Now I can expect a 3CD edition of my Get Lucky 2010 World Tour Compilation!!!!!!!!!   Like a '96 show.   :)

Actually, wild theme was not played live at all. It is in fact going home but in a different arrangement. Wild theme as on the LH album is a complete different song. What has been played during the tour is nothing more than a stripped down version of going home. As it is as quiet as wild theme, it is often called wild theme. But that's a detail. :)

Disagree, if you're going to be that pedantic about it then Going Home has not been played as it does not have saxaphone on it. The version they have been playing since OES tour has always been referred to as Wild Theme, it's a version where MK plays the melody with the keyboard, same as on the LH record. :)

You just put doubt in my mind, so I just listened to the Local Hero album, again, and I can definitely confirmed that "Wild theme" is not a completely different song, but a quiet version of the main theme ("Going Home"); essentially, slower and no drums. Pretty much what MK has been playing on the OES, STP, SL, and now GL tours; Going Home was played on the LOG, BIA, GH, and also now GL tours.

Sorry I'm confused now, you've just merged Going Home and Wild Theme, was Going Home played at all of this tour ?

By my reckoning there are 21 songs available on simfy recordings - the 20 I mentioned in my first post above plus ANISLA which was played in Paris - I have just acquired this one but I don't like the live version - too strained singing - so am not fussed about it being on my CD. These all fit copmfortabley on 2 CDs.  If it ever happens I'd like the versions of Rememberance day that surfaced early on the US leg and the local hero (calm down lads!!!) song with Phil Cunningham from Glasgow.  Oh and any surprises that might emerge on the rest of the tour (ok I'm kidding here).

Going Home played on the first two dates in the US, Wild Theme in Glasgow and Newcastle.

That's what I say. :) Although the saxophone, organ, drums, baseline and so are missing, the "wild theme live" is still going home. The original wild theme has some extra licks etc. When you look at how the song is built, it's completely different. The melody comes back from time to time and is the same. In fact the arrangement of wild theme on the LH record has been used on going home (that's how Guy and Mark play it nowadays). But after all, let's just enjoy it! ;D ;D ;D

But he plays slightly different licks on all songs than on the record, so still disagree with you.  :P
