Any chance for a new song ?
« on: June 12, 2010, 12:23:47 PM »
We already are in the second half on the tour.
It looks unikely that a new song (I think of So Far From The Clyde, or Postards From Paraguay) will pop up.
To my knowledge, the entire set of songs to be played on the tour has always been known after a couple of shows; but this year, "Monteleone" pop up rather late...
Any example of a new song poping up in the second half of the tour ? any hope ? :)

Well, if there is this special gig at Monte Carlo, he could play some gamble-related stuff like You Can't Beat The House, or Sucker Row, or Sands of Nevada, or so. But how realistic is that?

Add that in Monaco it will be at least a 20 minutes shortened show. Maybe Montreux could be the right place to do this.

I cross my fingers for "So Far From The Clyde" in the outdoor intimate gig in Lyon.

If that helps, well I still do believe too.  ;)

And she's sitting in her Lusso, in the early morning sun.

if mark showed us one thing this tour, never say never.
when we are all "bored to death" with the setlist, he goes on and changes (london --> antwerp)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Yep! There may be only some small changes, but there are changes.

Not new songs though, just recycled.

I think the band may not play new songs, but it seems they want to play classic ones with new arrangements to satisfy some fans who attend more than one show.
My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

to satisfy some fans who attend more than one show.

I believe this is the sort of thing Mark does not want to be bored with.

1) Mark play for a different audience everynight.
2) Mark adjust the setlist according to his mood or what he feel most adequate regarding the location (intimate/big venue, standing seated, curfew...)

For example in 2005 for his 5 RAH run, only the june 2d differed with one extra song added ("Our Shangri-La")

http://users.telenet.be/markknopfler/setlist2005.html

More or less the same for the 2008 and 2010 runs, minor variation from one night to another but definitively not an ABB or Springsteen style setlist.
