For me 2024 has been the year of MK😊first the show with Brian Johnson, an album, a ep, the guitar auction! Podcasts etc! So many great stuff it feels like a closure of a great career for me personally. I think ODR with the title track especially is a great swansong! It really touched me. Now that MK wont play live anymore and seems to be done more or less with the guitar, it does seems to me like 2024 was the last hurrah with the final album and lots of projects in general! I have a lifetime of songs to enjoy the rest of my life😊

Something in this direction would have been awesome:

Mark isn't that hip.
Sad, but true.
Closer he got from this were on Privateering.

Obviously, Mark and Ry have very different personalities, and I wouldn't want Mark to "act" any other way than he is naturally. What I was getting at, though, was the looseness and spontaneity in that Cooder clip. Mark showed a bit of that during the NHB gigs at Ronnie Scott's. I think at an earlier stage, before Mark's guitar skills declined and he frankly speaking got old, I think he could have pulled off such an album.

At this stage, we should be happy that he's still around and making music at all. I respect the fact that MK does whatever he wants, instead of chasing old glory and pretending he's still 29, like some of my other musical heroes do. His more recent albums are not quite to my taste, but I still enjoy some of the songs and get excited whenever he puts out something new. So let's enjoy the ride while we can.

And I have a feeling there will be more new music. He put out 25 songs this year, there's probably more in the can and/or in the works.

Welcome and I fully agree with you!  :wave

That's exactly what I really appreciate about him, he stands with both feet on the ground and doesn't allow himself to be influenced by the zeitgeist. He just does his thing!
