Bruce is probably still pissed off that Mark nicked the melody from jungleland for r&j  😉

Roy Bittan's interview circa 80-81 :

- JOURNALIST: “Romeo and Juliet” could have been on any Bruce album. Long and articulate stories reminiscent of “Incident on 57th Street” or “Spirit in the Night”

- ROY BITTAN: Yes there were a lot of similarities between them two at that time

There is an 80s interview with MK and TBone Burnett where MK says he loves I’m On Fire.

Beyond My Wildest Dreams sounds like Bruce.

I love "I'm on fire". Mark has a very good taste  ;D

the first line of Beyond My Wildest Dreams' verse is very similar to the one in "My hometown"

I love when artists collaborate, it nearly always creates something way bigger than the sum of the parts. Pity artists barely collaborate, especially artists like Mark. If I were an artist, I would collaborate all the time with everybody. Only with collaboration power, we can get beautiful things like this:

One of my colleagues went to see Ed Sheeran at Wembley Staudium and complained that Pavarotti came on part way through which was not what she paid to see…..until I told her that Pavarotti has died a number of years before and perhaps she meant Andrea Bocelli?!?

I found it sad that Mike Oldfield was once asked why he didn't collaborate much, and he replied, "no-one asks" If I was a musician I would ask him to contribute his wonderful guitar, or anything else. There is of course a lot more to it than his reply, knowing his history.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

That's pretty understandable. I think you need to be a real snob to "force" collaborations, it usually happens almost by accident. And people who can theoretically "hire" Mike Oldfield as a duo partner, I think have a broad choice anyway.

I think Mark gets asked for collaborations a lot and unfortunately too often can't say "no" and we have a decent amount of "collaborations" where Mark's contribution was just to slap his recognisable name on someone else's record.

MK has collaborated a LOT over the years.

Jbaent put together a massive Spotify playlist of all the collaborations and he did a lot of live collaborations as well.
