https://russiangirlfriends.bandcamp.com/One of het album tracks is called :
"Mark Knopfler Is My Moral Compass" (2:31 min) A very interesting title and worthly of a topic on it's own, I think
I could not find any official lyrics yet, only this piece from a track-by-track discussion about the album :
"Mark Knopfler is my Moral Compass"
The idea is that in modern American culture, we won't (and don't really have to) sacrifice anything for our comfort or community. We are a "soft culture" built on the enslavement and destruction of others. This is juxtaposed with Crazy Horse, who fasted and cut 50 pieces of flesh from each of his arms in a ritual before the Battle of Little Bighorn. He did not participate in the actual battle in which the Cheyenne and Lakota annhilated Custer's Calvary, so the ritual was his physical sacrifice. He literally sacrificed his own skin for his people.I don't see any connection with MK in this description, except maybe for the words "soft culture"
If any of you find out the lyrics (it's too fast for me to pick-up and translate, because english is not my mother language) or find the connection with the title, go !!
