I think Scaffolders Wife is one of the best things he's ever done and the vivid imagery in the song is great - but maybe you have to be English to really appreciate it. Northern Sky is beautiful too.
As for the rest of it, it's very well crafted but the overall effect is 'pleasant' and er....that's about it. There wasn't nearly enough lead guitar on it (with the possible exception of Scaffolders Wife). A lot of the tracks on there remind me of the sort of thing you'd get on the soundtrack to ITV's Heartbeat, largely because of the horribly dated Hank Marvin sound.
