Corned Beef City Live 2019 Version
« on: December 14, 2020, 10:03:11 PM »
Hi all!

I have a question regarding the live version of Corned Beef City from the DTRW 2019 Tour.

What instrument is the everlasting melody in that song in the backround and who plays it? It sounds to me like a electric guitar but i doesn't look like Richard Bennet is playing it and Mark surely isnt playing it.

Thanks for your help!

Regards,
Martin

Hi! Believe it or not, that's a sample played by Guy Fletcher.

On the Privateeting bonus disc (2011 rehearsals) you can hear Guy messing around with a pitch feel at the end of the intro, just before the first verse.

It's a sample of MK guitar, that launchs Guy from his synth.

Amazing they have SIX people in the band who regularly play guitar but they rely on a sample for this part!

Somehow it stops for a second at the 2019 concert in Gdansk (Poland) after Mark begins to late to sing...

I think the reason why they did it with a sample is because any human being would go mad playing only this riff through the whole song. So they decided to transfer this task to the most patient guy in the group hehe.
