Personally I am not a big fan of this show. I think it is a pity that this one received a blu ray treatment instead of, say, Mandela or better, Wembley 85:
-MFN is too slow. I feel Montserrat 97 is a much more rocking version. And short intro, for long intros there is 1985 and 2001.
- Solid Rock is... So-so.
-I really like ITILYTM though, that was the nice new part of it.

Also, MK's orange suit is pretty ridiculous, EC's pink one is even worse, and the wind puts them in an embarrassing situation :)

I love this show, mainly due to the tone of Mark's guitar.  It's just lovely that night, on all songs.

Solid Rock is much better than Mandela or the BIA tour.  The arrangement and solos are much better thought out and of course the tone of his guitar is rocking instead of quite harsh as it was in earlier versions.

ITILYTM is just great.

MFN is slower yes but the tone is great and the outro solo is nice too and unlike Mandela it is played by Mark, not EC.

The suits were sartorial elegance gone off track but for once I think Mark won!

I believe Mark missed a note at Solid
ITILTM was great
MFN had tha best 2 solos ever, and the Pensa sound fantastic

Suits were really weird but I guess it was in purpose

yes Mark made a greenie on solid rock

I prefer MFN at Mandela : both Mark and Eric 's playing
at knebworth they miss the outro : the female singers wait way too long at the end to change to the chorus chord

MFN is slower yes but the tone is great and the outro solo is nice too and unlike Mandela it is played by Mark, not EC.
at mandela Eric plays the 2nd solo (an then brakes a string !), but the outro is played by both Mark and Eric while Guy sings backings vocals

Yes, Eric broke a string and switched the guitar

I can't stand MFN slow, it ruins it I think.
After listening to the fantastic rocking Montserrat 97 version I found any other version kind of boring (save for Wembley'85, lots of energy too, albeit in a different way).I'm glad we have it on DVD (I would love a blu ray!). Mark and EC and Phil and Sting really nailed it that night. Only drawback, short intro, that's why 85 and 01 versions (out of this world intro !) are also great. But I cannot even listen to 90/91/92/96/05 versions now !

the one from Vaison 96 is pretty good, but my fav one is the studio version, and live the mandela version.
the original sound from MFN is WITHOUT wah pedal, and that's why I don't like versions fater 88, apart the one from Vasion and the slide intro in 2001

MFN can be played with the Paula, Steinberger or the MK1
The first 2 sound much similar. The Pensa has a more sintétic sound
Although I believe MFN is better performed with the Paula I prefer MK1 sound.
At ILTM the Pensa sound is mandatory
We should open a New topic to discuss live versions played with different guitars
