MK is deciding, Guy said that in his forum a couple of times

Guy isn't consistent with his explanations.   This is a reply to a query about setlists from yesterday:

"I generally decide the set and run it past MK".
Guy's response must be tongue-in-cheek!  But I was surprised by this reply, as I think many people may take it seriously.  It is tongue-in-cheek, right?

This lovely song still stuns!
I still get a 'lump in the throat' when I hear the opening few bars of this.......So incredibly moving and I'm one who would have loved to have heard this Live as there was so much potential with it....

I have loved this song from the first time I heard it, very atmospheric lyrically, and I like Mark's slide work too.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Indeed the atmosphere from this track is mind blowing...

Adding to the Dylan links perceived in this songs, just listened to "Red River Shore" from the Time Out of Mind sessions, very reminiscent of this one as well

Wow, a great observation. The arrangement is nearly identical. This can't be a coincidence, or MK and BD are brothers from different mothers.

I'm currently reading Howard Sounes' book Down The Highway: The Life Of Bob Dylan. Probably the best Bob Dylan biography. And of course I'm waiting for MK-related accents:)

Yes, I can hear it too in that song. Also, on the Time Out if Mind Sessions is another MK link, Dylan does a version of The River is Wide, which Mark did an instrumental version of.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

I love the lyrics and imagery they generate, but I can't get past the amount of slide present on this song; it just feels too "twangy" to me
