I had a fabulous night yesterday, thanks to Ingrid who took care of everything so that I can have a tickets.
So great again to meet with Pottel, Ingrid,Isaac, Jeroen and others...
On the train to Stuttgart I was reading this forum and read Pottel calling dotds a boring song !! This put my morale down ! I made big sacrifices to come to listen to the so-called boring song ! :)
And as if this was not enough, Prior to the show Isaac was teasing me, saying that the "new song" would probably be skipped so that the band can fly back early to London...
So, after Sonny (already a depressing news in itself) was played, can you imagine my level of anxiety... And then my level of despair when I heard the strong beat of Postcards intro !! I just thought Isaac's dreadful prophecy had realized... I felt desperate... Then I told myself: wait a sec... Something is wrong... Nigel is there with his clarinet... And they all look surprised... And then the beat stops... Marks laughs... Makes a (new) joke about Ianto being too much in a rush... And, suddenly, dotds starts... I couldn't believe it... And what a dotds ! Later Ingrid would tell me it was the best of all four, and I had no problem believing her: such poetry... So great and elaborated and end solo... Pottel, you are happy to live in 21st century... In the Middle Ages you would have been burnt alive for a lesser blasphemy than calling dotds "boring !" :)
After the song the superb band intro, using Paraguay as a platform, started as usual, giving Mark the opportunity to joke again, saying that Ianto was "dying to be introduced".
These are those few moments in life for which you want to live... With a last-minute trip I managed to catch the last and best rare live rendition  of this most beautiful song that we had given up hope to hear... We don't think I will be played again without Nigel... Inceedible luck for me !
And I have to say that although I strongly disagree with Pottel about dotds, I really concur with him and all the others to say the this show was the best ever... Superb Speeday, incredible Telegraph solo (I will never again complain about the "karaoke mode" or miss the 2005 versions), even slightly longer than London 1, with new licks !
Although my seat was a bit far, I managed to come very close to the stage after the run of bulls, to see OSL and GH very close again... Superb renditions...
Superb night and then breakfast with my fellow AMITers to conclude this trip... You guys are special, MK creates a very strong community ! Thanks so much again !:)

Great review herlock!!!

I can't believe some of the things I read here, but apparently little minds overestimate R&J or DOtdS ;D
The way he sings and plays guitar
            Still brings me to tears

It doesn't take a great mind to judge an MK gig the best one ever.
The latest is always the best because it makes earlier ones fade to black...
Just another small mind's 1.5 Cents ;D

Disagree dear, how could I say London is one of the best, ages ago and a lot of gigs after that one

btw richard just wrote:
Sadly, it was the last show that Nigel Hitchcock will do with us on this tour.  It's been great having Nige along, he's a brilliant musician and wonderful guy and we look forward to seeing him for a short run of dates in October in the States.

ok, listening to DODS now, and the "solo" at the end does make it worthwhile,...a bit.
the paraguay intro earlier is just funny.

I was very impressed by DOTDS in Stuttgart. More that in Bad Mergentheim. But imho this song has still more potential. I wish it grow and expand into a "new Marbletown"
...yes I need a little water of love...

Thanks for the rewiew Herlock. Very interesting. I'm so glad that your dream came true about Submariner  ;)
It's my favorite track on the album and it's so great to hear the versions from Germany  ;D
For me it's a surprise how good it sounds played live too. It would have been perfect if Mark had made that stroke of genius at the start of the tour  :think
I was not happy to see the lack of Sultans and also Speedway at some shows, but It's very nice to see Submariner on the list now  :clap :clap :clap
Well done Mark.........
