Thank you for your story, LE.   The same thing happened to me with KTGC.  Until a couple of years ago the album was way down my list of favourite albums, but one day when I was giving it another listen something clicked and I was actually enjoying the album.  Now it is amongst my favourites, certainly in my top three along with Tracker, Shangri-La and now ODR.  It's becoming a bit crowded at the top!   ;D

New chapter in that endless complicated relationship between ODR and me. I've seen a good friend last week after a long time and he gave me ODR as a present on vinyl as he thought that I would like it. Couldn't tell him that I already had that one and now the last couple of days I was comparing my both vinyl versions ref. pressing quality and stuff and was listening to all four sides repeatedly and very intense. I found that my original version from the Box Set is very good and after I have had it cleaned professionally a couple of months ago it is almost perfect and I am very pleased with the quality (and yes I have the CD, too).

BUT after all this listenings something happened. It clicked, a breakthrough happened: I can now officially declare that I LOVE it.  :wave Blimey, it must have been the longest Initiation time I've had with any MK release. Or maybe it resonates with another man than the one I was last year. It really speaks to me, must have listened to it entirely three or four times tonight alone. It feels like at release day with one year delay. Plus I can delve into the bonus songs with much more ease now. An undefined bunch of 25 or 26 songs finally is divided in a perfect album on the one side  and a loose collection of fresh good songs (some weak too) on the other.

Greetings to Pottel who wrote the other day that he listens to it on a daily base, Maarten suddenly I feel you!  :lol

As Guy said, it's a deep album. Obviously it was too deep for me to find out  how brilliant it is in April 2024.

And the gift from my friend had a huge impact and was catalyzing this latest love to an album which gave me some hard time the first months after its' release. But Mark said it: It's okay to wait for the good things in life.

If this stays his last one, it will fill this place with grace and honour. Well done, Mark.

LE

I'm very happy for you.

I stopped listening to it half a year ago more or less and started again because of the one year of it and still sounds deep on me.

Yes, listening to it right now, still wondering why it just doesn't sound .. really good, soundwise. (CD today). I wonder if a Musician like Guy who has toured for decades has still the right ears to produce an album at all. The mix is just not my cup of tea.

I find it almost ridiculous to put the album on two 45 vinyls to imply "superior audiophile sound" but every 33 rpm album from the 80's sounds many dimensions better.

As a possible last album, it has the right vibes and atmosphere, far better than the one before. Tracker still unbeaten.

LE
Tracker still unbeaten, that's right.
There are days when I'm convinced it's the best solo album he ever made, even ahead of STP. The lyrics, the melodies, the theme of the passage of time echoing throughout the album makes it such an enjoyable listen

Tracker is my favourite album.    I feel I'm on a journey when I listen to it.  :)

Mine too and I feel the same.
Listening to Mark's music always feels like being on a wonderful journey to places and centuries you've never been. He is a masterful songwriter.

This is all the heaven we've got, right here where we are in our Shangri-La.
