I liked the performance, but the mix sounds so horrible that I rarely listened to it.
there are so many far better sounding recordings from the BIA tour, and with also very good performance, and with complete songs, that  I don't listen to this one anymore

Despite the recording being not perfect, it features my preferred versions of almost saxless WWE,  and TOL is in my top 2 version in competition with Sydney final '86 gig.

I love the sax intro on WWE, like in late december, e.g. the bootleg "cocaine", and I prefer it than earlier versions (like this one from 5-08-85)
as for TOL I know that many fans like Sydney, but I must admit I never paid any attention to it, because I think it's not representative of the tour : no intro and no slow pace with band introduction, the 2 parts that made worth the version of the song imho.
if I want to listen to a short version, I like very much the studio version, and I want a version without slow pace / band introduction, then I go for Alchemy.
The interesting thing in listening TOL from the BIA tour is to have improvisation during the slow pace, like instuttgart, Uniondale, etc...imho

care to do a fresh transfer from your tapes Dan?

I could, but it's pointless. Here's why. In 2005, I made a snail mail trade with a guy in Germany who was just a casual fan to obtain this show. To my surprise, BiA, SR, and the intro of GH were from Cleveland and NOT the Houston show like they are on many of the copyright gap bootleg CDs like "American Tour 1985". The encores were hiding in plain sight all along. Unfortunately, while this version seems to be from a fairly low generation tape and wasn't mp3 sourced, the speed was off. It played a bit too fast. I have no clue if this was introduced when the tape was copied or if someone felt the source tape played too slow and over corrected it.

In 2006, I torrented it on DIME the way it was. Around the same time, I got a hold of the unknown generation Maxell tapes, which were created sometime in the 80s. BiA and SR are there but GH cuts out about a minute or so in just like the other version. There is more tape hiss on the tapes than on any other version which indicates to me that it's a higher generation copy. Since the quality is inferior and there is no extra music to listen to, it's pointless to transfer it to digital. I still keep the tapes as some kind of weird souvenir of the tour though.

do we have a complete recording of this show?

because there are so many different versions. Some without the bass solo during the break in Walk Of Life, and some with the bass solo. Others are missing Brothers In Arms, Solid Rock and Going Home. And some are missing the band introductions during Tunnel Of Love. and so on, and so on..

I can't find it on the tracker... Only two different versions.

It seems the version "SHATTER ALL EXPECTATIONS" is the best one:

Or "Brothers In Cleveland" only misses Going Home and is maybe a better mix?

None of the copies of the soundboard tape are going to have Going Home because it wasn't fully recorded.

The extra bass solo in WoL in one of the versions is very funny.  :) It's not on any of the more complete recordings which indicates to me that it was added by the bootleg company. I suspect they were trying to mark the recording so they would know if it was copied and re-sold by another bootleg company.

i pitched this version back in 2011:

Dire Straits -"Blossom and Relive Cleveland '85"- Cleveland, USA. 1985-08-05, Stunning soundboard !!2011 Speed corrected version!!

info:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Enlight note:

FINALLY...... here it is, the SPEED CORRECTED version from one of Dire Straits best and famous 1985 soundboard USA bootlegconcert.

Although there are some original silvers and other bootleg recordings from this show, none of them are running in the correct speed. They are all running too slow aprox. a semi tone (two half pitch steps). Except for the tracks “Brothers in Arms” and “ Solid Rock’’( from this date!!)  these are running nearly a semi tone (two half pitch steps) too fast.

An excellent soundboard recording like this deserves better.

So I speed up the slow running tracks and speed down the fast running tracks.

For this I used two bootlegs , not counting the bonus tracks, (read further):

(1) mine original silver , Original Artist Recording, live and alive, dire straits live USA, imtrat: 920.013 cover, imt:900.069 cd1, imt:900.070 cd2, made in Germany, LC6711.

(2) Brothers in Cleveland

WHY two different bootlegs?

I used the imtrat original silver because imho it’s the best captured recording. The sound of this recording is clearer (you can hear the separate instruments and normal audience enthusiasm much better).
And it has that mysterious bass guitar riff during the “walk of life” breakdown part (read further).

But the imtrat silver has some minors.  “Expresso love” was  placed on CD 2 (not following the set list) and because of that the transition from “ Ride across the river” to “ Expresso love" became a difficulty.
Also the imtrat was less complete comparing to the Brothers in Cleveland none original bootleg. And imtrat decided to edit out the band introduction during “tunnel of love”  , professionally done to be honest and this version is in. (with the sound quality in mind) , but as a bonus I included the full “ Tunnel of love” version, with the band introduction , as a bonus taken and also speed corrected from mine  original The swinging pig TSP-CD-088-2 silver.

So it became a mix from these two bootlegs to provide you the best sounding quality and keep it complete . And less but not least ……..its sounds the way it should be with the tracks speed corrected ….finally.

Notice that “Brothers in Arms” and “ Solid Rock’’ are from this concert date , all other bootlegs from this date included these tracks from the Houston, Texas, USA, 17th August 1985 show. (Which is not allowed to up anyway because  it’s a  King Biscuit Flower Hour radio concert  and owned by wolfgangsvault.com), or were left out.

OK what about that mysterious bass-guitar riff during “Walk of life”:

On the Original Artist Recording, live and alive, dire straits live USA, imtrat: 920.013 cover, imt:900.069 cd1, Germany, LC6711. Silver, you can clearly hear John Illsley  playing a bass guitar riff during the “ Breakdown” part………it would not be that mysterious when I also can hear it on other bootlegs from that concert. And yes …they are identical….except for that bass riff. (Listen sample). A version without the bass riff is included as a bonus, ripped from mine swinging pig TSP-CD-088-2 silver and also speed corrected.

-- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I gave this the title "Blossom and Relive Cleveland '85", to avoid mix up with previous (Not speed corrected) bootlegs.
And it really matches my feelings after doing this speed correction......... I relived this show!!

So here it is… Dire Straits at the Blossom Music Center, Cleveland USA - August 5, 1985 All TRACKS SPEED CORRECTED at last!!(BY Enlight)

I love listening this great concert proper now……..Turn it up Cleveland!

Enjoy boys and girls

Flaclog and MD5 included

If somebody got some spare time to create covers for this speed corrected version.......I will highly appreciate it!!(THX in advance)

Take care

Some Cuyahoga version have been mixed with Cleveland version. And, I have never see a full concert cleveland version.
Which guitar was playing Mark by August 1985 to play  SOS?
1st leg in Europe was red/schecter strato.
I believe, he played the brown/white fender all Usa tour.

Correct.  This can be confirmed from the Toronto 26.07.85 video, which is at the beginning of the North American leg.  Also one of the first concerts he used the Steinberger on MFN.
