I want to buy a new camera. Can anyone advice me in this?
I don't want to think, the camera has to do the job when I turn  it on the right setting.
And it has to be as small as possible.

Please help me!  :)

I've got a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 which has got a 10x optical zoom (28 bis 280 mm) which I bought in Berlin and immediately used during the promo gig. It's very small, easy to use for me (ok, I did a professional training as a photographer before I went to university), a lot of manual functionality, but also automatic.
I guess there is already a follow on camera on the market. It was one of the best before a DSLR.

For DSLR I use a Nikon, different price range and big, not allowed to bring in to shows.

Thanks Martina, I am going to have a look at that one. I am not really stupid, but never had a training for photography and I am a little lazy. If the camera can think itself, I like it better  ;)

Sorry WM but the information Martina gave me was a little more what I was looking for  ;D

Looks like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 is the follow on camera.

Youre welcome Ingrid ;D,
seriously though,I'm not into cameras but my wife likes to take a lot of pics at weddings etc & she bought a decent Fujifilm FinePix digital camera a few weeks ago.It wasn't top of the range or anything but the pics are good quality, its easy to use,its just bigger than a mobile phone so it fits into your pocket, the battery is rechargeable & it cost her
If it aint broke dont fix it!

At first sight the cameras might look alike, but they are not!  :o
Watch the key features like: camera effective pixels (mega pixel), optical zoom (top is about 12x), lens (Leica, yes!), iso sensitivity, audio and video function (hello Mark!  ;D), programmes, software, power supply, battery life, dimensions etc. I could go on and on...I like cameras!  ;D
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 is about 350

I know that Martina, I am going to have a good look. Leica lens is perfect I know. Zoom can be pretty important, depend on which row I am seated  ;)
It also has to take good pictures in Iceland. I am now going to start to look around and I love to have all your different experiences with different cameras. It helps me, without having to read all the different sites to make a choice out of 2 to 4 cameras, instead of starting with reading on the internet where are thousands of cameras presented.

And I know you a little after those years Martina, so I know you go for good quality and that's what counts for me too.
Thanks both and if there are others who wants to add their experiences, feel free.

LOLOL
Marky is right about the Nikon.   It can do a lot of things, but it can be pretty close to point and shoot.   I have an Olympus 620, and I like it a lot too.
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best
To get along

I have a Canon S2 IS that is a point-and-shoot with 10X zoom. It's a little old; I think they're up to S6 or S7 now. There are some up to 20X zoom, maybe more. If you get a zoom, make sure it has image stabilization (IS).

I used the S2 with the 10X to take the MK pictures in my avatar and listed in my signature, so it does a pretty good job, and it's relatively small and lightweight.

It is very easy to use straight out of the box, or you can delve into changing the settings as you get more familiar with the speed and f-stop and such. Some photo stores offer free classes on how to use them if you do want to get into more complicated stuff.
