Hi, folks! Just want to throw in my "five cents" about song writing. DS was a great band (we all agree). But when a 30 year old sings about girls on the boardwalk, it's cool. When a 60y.o. still sings about girls on the boardwalk, it's creepy... People and tastes change.

Welcome Al,very valid points there,
I think some people (not all) still want MK to be the way he was 30 years ago, long hair, headband & tight jeans (check out the drool thread) but like all of us he has moved on.How do we know maybe MK cringes when he sees old videos or pics of his DS years & wants to distance himself from from that scene by going down a more mellow route with his new projects??? Its not going to keep everyone happy but such is life & su're who knows what the new album is going to be like when we have only had bits & pieces of people taking something out of comments that Guy is making - as Dusty says lets wait & see what he delivers & make our decisions then.

If it aint broke dont fix it!

Welcome to the forum, Al.  I think MK should play the songs he is comfortable playing at this stage in his life.  I would hate him to try to be the same as he was in his 30s.  Anyway I like him just as he is now.   :P

Well, I think musically he never WAS in his 30s. I remember great songs like "In the Gallery" (especially live versions), or the incredible "Southbound Again".
All very mature and great and full of energy, even if those are not songs that I would call fast. However, he had a period of writing where he used to produce some "childish" stuff I never really liked: Do America, Quality Shoe, so-called "fun"-songs...
So I am glad he writes now stuff that really suits him and his age. But "no fast songs": I would dream of a little more tension. Examples: "Wanderlust". It
has a very special atmosphere and is not boring - also "You Don
