Martin acoustic
« on: January 01, 2018, 04:59:26 PM »
Hi everybody,

do we have any information about the pickups Mark uses in his Martin 000-40 acoustic? I think his signature edition Martin made a while back had no pickups installed but when he plays his acoustics he's plugged in and there is no soundhole pickup visible and no buttons on the side. Anybody knows anything about that?

P

Hi,
This might help

Look at Microphones and Blended Systems:

If I recall, Martin installed Fishman from factory.

However this doesn't say anything about the actual pickup used by MK.

Try these, they're gorgeous. Mark uses them in Nationals, but it will work on acoustics, too. Just a different type of a pickup.

I also found this

informative. But most of these solutions are visible so who knows what he's using. I've been looking into acoustic guitars lately but none of those piezo pickups that come preinstalled in electro-acoustics are very convincing to me.

It won't be an expensive guitar so going crazy with some after market pickup most likely doesn't make a lot of sense. But it will still have to be something that I like. Lots of manufacturers are indeed using Fishman pickups of some sort.

I think Guy once mentioned L.R. Baggs for the Martins, many years ago. Not sure if this is still true.
