I think we will stay at the Imperial College London - Beit Hall it seems like a great Hotel and very close to RAH.
Back in 1998 or 1999 during the NHB period Marijn, Anna and I stayed in Cartwright Gardens once, never again...it was disgusting. Be careful...that was also a College.

I booked the Travelodge Marylebone Hotel for tow night, unfortunatly it was not possible to have saverrooms for two nights.

But we don't mind, it is our first time in London so we go discovering london saturday.

Hey!

Thank you for the input so far! Can somebody tell me if the Travelodge City Road EC1Y 1AE is recommendable? I'm just interested in a clean room ensuite, possible noise from the street or a sparse breakfast won't be an issue for me.

Oh - and I was wondering if there is a realistic possibility to catch a black cab after the concert is finished (Sunday evening) in the surrounding area of the Royal Albert Hall? Or is it better to pre-order a minicab by phone?

Thank you!

I don't know about this particular Travelodge, but I can say that Travelodge is a very large chain with fairly uniform standards, some hotels will have been redecorated more recently than other but generally they are all of a decent standard and good value for money.

Certianly every Travelodge I've ever stayed in (and it's quite a few) has always had en-suite rooms, I would say that's a definite. Sometimes the offer a hot breakfast but usually I find it's better to find a nearby cafe.

Yes, I agree Travelodges are of a consistent quality and unless you want a full English Breakfast with all the works, I wouldn't bother going outside to a cafe, because what they provide is fine for me!   :)    Not all of them do breakfast, though - remember Hereford, dusty?   :)  Sainsbury's cafe across the road came to the rescue!   ;D

I had actually forgotten about Hereford but now you mention it we went to Sainsbury's too. :)

Quite often they don't offer a hot breakfast at all, and my experience of the ones the DO offer (Edinburgh for example) is that it's OK, but not great, better to step outside and find a greasy spoon IMO. :)

We went to the Ibis in Edinburgh and it was really good.  They even made a hot snack for us after midnight on the evening of the show!   :)

Okay. I think I'll try Travelodge City Rd, it's a real pain to get a decent hotel in London town. By the way, this looks really great, although it is a more expensive one: http://www.hoxtonhotels.com/  .

But what about getting back after the show? I've been using the tube quite often, but my attendance prefers driving by taxi in the evening.

These two links could be of interest for any potential taxi customer:

Perhaps someone is interested in sharing a taxi?
