Your favorite official live recordings
« on: February 15, 2016, 07:23:53 PM »
Hi everyone  :)

I´ve been collecting soundboard recordings of many artists for a while now. And these days I´m having a good look at the bleecker-street-shop site again, to get a couple of new recordings of MK. So my question is, what´s your favorite recordings from the different tours? I do have some already, but can't seem to get enough of them.

From the Get Lucky 2010 tour I really enjoy Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Which one do you recommend? :)

And which recording do you like from the last Tracker tour? I bought the last one from Fort Lauderdale a little while back, and I really enjoyed that one :)

Paris 2010 is quite stunning... Well I'm biased I was there... But it has a great and long solo of TR, reminiscent of the 2005 versions, save for the regrettable infamous karaoke mode after "rolling river"... It has a great ANISLO with Mark shouting the lyrics :) and a great BR and Coyote...
Next is Saint Julien 2013 : great WII, great Going Home on guitar only (almost on par with Vaison 96, save for the Les Paul tone), a great TR end solo with new licks...and a long SFA !
For 2015 I recommend Sion, great sound, and a guitar tech problem in Sultans with a nice recovery that makes it an interesting version :)
As for 2005, they are unfortunately not available anymore officially, and they are at low bitrate ayway... I mostly prefer newer recordings, but 2005 has great TR (No karaoke mode, great solos), great WII (no dumb flute !), and of course Boom like that which is unique to the tour...
For 96 Vaison is a killer (pre-FM). No super good recording for 2001 I'm afraid (FM broadcasts are average sounding).

2008 was the worse year in terms of energy... Quite superseded by 2010 IMHO. Unless you care for canibals and TLWNF... :)

Hamburg and Lucca doesn't sound really bad imho

and you got the LA mix between OEM and audience which sounds great imho

maybe in term of energy... but in term of surprises in the setlist, and changes regarding previous tours, it was the best imho
I wish I could have attend a gig of this tour, but I did'nt

Yeah I missed it too. Listening to the recordings I think it was great setlist wise (Postcards ! HFB ! Marbletown ! ahem sorry dmg if you read this ;)), but also there was somehow the switch between "guitar only + energy" to "less guitar, flute, cittern, and slower" which I find unfortunate. This is where the infamous karaoke mode was introduced on TR. WII was also slower. Subsequent tours (2010, 2013 and 2015) corrected this... partially. The karaoke mode is still there... I think all in all 2010 + 2013 brings the best out the 2008 shows, so there are not that much needed. But yeah, let's admit that 2008 brought HFB and that was a great thing !! Love the song really !!

it brought not only HFB, but also marbletown, Daddy's gone to Knoxville, Devil baby (even only once), Postcards, brought back cannibals, going home, and left Walk of life !

it was really the tour of "changes"...but you are right, not on all good sides...

I agree with you about slower paces, less guitar, too much flute cittern, etc...but I imagine the surprise of hearing these songs with no info before !
I wish I could have been there and asking myself : "what the hell will be the next song ?!"

I attented a gig in 2010 and yes HFB and Marbletown were great, but it was not the "WTF..?!" feeling I could have had in 2008

I had this thrill in 96, but never since

Not at all, in fact I think it had a novelty factor for me back then! ;D
