Movie Connections - Local Hero
« on: February 19, 2009, 05:43:32 PM »
The BBC showed a programme about the making of Local Hero last night.

I'm just watching it now on the iPlayer, no interview with MK I think.  :-\

(Brits only I think, sorry.)

Just skimmed through it, brief discussion of the score and footage of MK in the studio with Bill Forsyth at around 28mins.

Thanks for that, dusty, but, as always with this type of programme, there was not enough recognition given to MK's score, which was a major contribution to the success of the film!

Are there any unseen footage in that program?  If so, hehe, dusty, you know what to do.  :P

As I say, there was some footage of MK in what appears to be an editing suite with Bill Forsyth.

Whether or not this is unseen, I don't know.

I didn't record the show, but I will be able to get hold of a pretty high quality Divx rip of it which hopefully the good people at Spansih City will allow me to upload.

Even though there's not much about MK it's a pretty interesting programme for fans of the film.

I love that movie, and you've got a permission from one of the mods there to upload that rip version .   ;)

One of the great...maybe the greatest score ever for a film. I love that movie and everyone I have ever shown it to said the same thing. Knopfler and Forsythe are a good pair. WHat about the pressure he was under to get Princess Bride done...now there's a master piece, I tell ya.
All the world's a stage and all the men and wee men merely players. They have their exits and there entrances and one Man in his time play many parts...His acts being Heaven ages.

E = aM, see square?

I've uploaded the MK clip in higher quality in case anyone wants it. It's a direct DVB capture, so it'll probably be the best quality available (and easy to burn to DVD without re-encoding the file). This is probably only of interest to the completists out there...it's just a few people involved with the film talking about the music...plus the footage of MK in the editing suite. The file is about 80mb (around 2 minutes in length).

Apart of Mark Knopfler and Bill Forsyth, you can see Neil Dorfsman in the studio...

I think nobody mentioned him before  ;)
