It just occured to how beatifully "no lights on the stairs" works as a metaphor: They're young and eager, and there's a steep climb in front of them, but where exactly they're heading they can't tell, it's all in the dark, with just a couple of enlightened moments every now and then.

Mark surely is as good with words as he is with chords and guitars.
Yes!  Thanks Rail King -- it is a beautiful metaphor (and thanks Justme, for the right word here!).  There is so much richness and so many layers in MK's writing, that I think a lot often passes me by!  :think

Just wondering about something...

I completely expected that the subject of MK's LaJaDaS would be of early band days!  I was certain that we'd hear about him and his bandmates hanging out, and was quite surprised that he is reminiscing about LaJaDaS with a girl.  Anybody else surprised by this?

I was a little too.  It's a bit of a throwback to his earlier songs (ToL immediately springs to mind).

It certainly means that the lyrics of these early songs are no longer an excuse for not playing them though.
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."

Just listening to LAJADAS and remembering the first time I heard it, in March 2015. Do you know the overwhelming feeling when listening to a song that you didn't listen for quite a while? The feeling that a lot of things have changed in the last 3 years, the music that travels with you.. The memories. MK really is right about these milestones.

Hola

Still my favourite from that record. I continously put Tracker just to listen to this track and still makes me smile.
