private investigation online radio
« on: March 27, 2014, 10:59:24 AM »
am listening to this station the whole day, and just now heard some folk sounding accordion+guitar version of Blowing in the wind, and in the end it sounds like it comes from some folk country fest/prairie home companion(?) like event.
is that mark playing guitar on it?
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Don't think so. The only officially released MK collaboration under the name A prairie home companion was on the album Duets:

But I could be wrong.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Probably you listened to the "Associated with MK" program section!

Stupid, I know, but  did you check here? BTW, they some times miss or skip songs that they have listed, or play different ones...

Hi, all.  I listen to PI radio all the time.  The Prairie Home Companion was, and I think still is, although in a different location, a radio show hosted that originated out of St. Paul, Minnesota, by Garrison Keillor, recorded in front of a live audience.  It aired on Public Radio (PBR) weekly, and was something of a variety show, featuring guest stars, skits, and a story Keillor told about a mythical place called Lake Wobegon.   Lake Wobegon was very popular with listeners and ended in several books being published about it.  Mark appeared on the show with the band during his promotion of the Kill To Get Crimson album, maybe when they were on tour, and they did several numbers, including one that Mark and Garrison dueted on.  One amusing comment Garrison made was to tell Mark he thought he should move to St. Paul permanently (the audience loved that, too).  He could write 4 or 5 songs a week and go into the studio and perform them on the Prairie Home Companion - a job offer!  :lol  Mark came back with his standard comment about thinking song writing was the only thing he was fit for.

The songs they have been playing on PI were from that promo.

Somewhere on the web, there exists several video clips of the band performing those songs live on stage, but of course, when you want to find something like that, you can never properly search for it!  I have seen them, though, and they are pretty good.  This particular show aired on October 2, 2004, I believe.  I think Mark and Emmy Lou also appeared when doing their Roadrunning promo in 2007 as well.
