Well. I have Dire Straits cover band and we play just for fun. And that means that we play the songs we enjoy to listen ja enjoy to play, for example Skateaway, In the gallery and News but also Sultans of Swing. Knopfler

The Straits also plays Communique and Portobello. Terence Reis is a fan and he used to play in a cover band before being recluited by Alan Clark.

Thing about being in a tribute band is you have to do stuff the crowd want to hear - and that means all the big hits. There's plenty of more obscure stuff I'd love to do in my trib, but we do DS not MK and Sultans is a must.

Having said that, we did used to do What It Is - just because I love it!

I think all great artists rarely care much about the 'strange' things that gather around them milking the Gravy Train (so to speak). Like Bob Dylan too. Could you imagine him caring? I think they were cut from the same tree when it comes to 'attention seeking, pleasing old fans etc, etc.

I just want to say that showing the video of Sultans cover to Mark is like... hmmm... It's like showing the MS Paint replica of Picasso picture to Picasso. Not the speed painting one, but just a MS Paint picture. I don't know the good comparison to this, but certainly if I'd able to show any video to Mark it wouldn't be the Sultans of Swing. Genius.

It wasn't the good idea and Mark was right, sorry for me being so outspoken. I think Mark was very polite and you can say thanks for this, because he said just 'I don't care', but not 4-letter words or something like that. I remeber a show where are 'House band' was playing SoS and even on the television Mark said 'Oh no!' in panic when heard it.

Tommy Emmanuel can sit before the show and listen carefully to every one of folks who want to play his tune for him. Somebody even can play a duo with him. And you can get clear explanations on how to play it, he'd tune up your guitar, truss rod and sign the guitar. The only problem is
