I have not met Mark yet but I am hopful that I will some day. Like everyone else, I would like to say something "different" or "memorable" to him, to make me stand out from the rest. Wrong thing to do I suspect. Probably wants to be treated like how you would treat any one else.
No bragging here. I have been lucky enough to
:meet Roger Daltry a few times whilst fishing at his Trout Fishery in Burwash, East Sussex.
:be taken to supper by Midge Ure of Ultravox at the hight of his music fame and charity work with Bob Geldof.
:spend a day at the country retreat of the bass player for Simple Minds. We got pissed up on strong lager in his sauna (but did not have sex!). I can't even think of his name now.
:meet Annie Lennox - say no more in case my wife visits the AMIT forum!
The thing that struck me about them all is that they are like you and I! But........ they all have had a big lucky break somewhere along the line, which they can recognise, and also, they all have a significant intellect/streetwise sharpness about them. None of these guys disappointed me and I was totally impressed by their ordinariness (- if that's a word!) and how rounded they were as people.
So, if you ever do get lucky enough to meet our hero my advice would be treat him like any new introduction and don't be too surprised if he's a normal decent bloke who would like treated as such!
We all can hope........
