I agree with Dusty, why not wait until a better one comes to fruition??

Its not like its an older guitar either....

you could always ask on the Strat Talk forum, there are some super nerdy nerds there, and you'll hear all sorts of opinions for an interesting story like this.

Thats a good idea, but i'm not a member and do not want to join to ask a question and look like a leacher.
If you happen to be a member, please feel free to post the pictures and see if you get an answer.

Very weird. You could fill the holes and touch up quite easily.  It depends on whether or not you are the kind of person who will always be bothered by it and whether or not you care about the discount.

No i'm not a very fussy person, and the pricing is good. Still have to think about it.
I have asked for a better quality picture, so I can get a better idea.

Maybe you could send them a mail and ask if they have more in stock, and if not, maybe they could get hold on one for you? Really nice people there. They will answer fast...

I got a reply today, good news and bad news.

Brandon at Willcutt told me he has another MK Strat, case never opened until today.
When he opened it he found it had 5 little holes in it 1 on the front and 4 on the rear. (he says they look like they where drilled)
He said he had never seen anything like it. He sent me some low quality pics take a look and give me your opinions
Should I take it or keep looking?
It has all the tags, serial #SE11637 He has adjusted the price for the damage $1300.00 + shipping

Chow Brian

Hm... Shame it isn't in perfect condition. Very strange... I think I would have kept looking, although it is a very good price, but we might not look at it the same way :)

It's the end of a perfect day..,.

I'd guess that these holes appear because of a faulty coat of lacquer.

Flectch, it seems that the pics can be seen only when you're logged in.
If you're not registered to AMIT, you can access to the link you posted on strat forum, but you can't see the pics

I think it's a little bit like my "acess to general discussion" problem  :think

registered persons can see more things than simple "visitors" it seems... :think

Dan, we need some help  :)

Brian, just join, post in the intro a "hello" - attach your pics, you'll get LOADS of ideas. It's a friendly place.

I'd like to know who did those holes and why - curious!

IF this is actually a new instrument, the dealer should be returning it to Fender. It should never have left the factory like that. (Case never opened?) .
It makes me think that someone has been sticking labels on with drawing pins :smack, or it isn't actually a new guitar !  :think
I would pass on that one even with the reduction in price.

BTW, when did they stop putting these in the brown case with the gold lining?
When you point your finger 'cause your plan fell through you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

Yes the case issue is interesting. Perhaps those on this forum with MK Strats with black cases can advise when they bought them to get a rough idea of a year....

The theory of drawing pins is interesting too...cant be new as it would never of left Fender like that!!

I do believe the dealer about it being new, he original told me that he did not have one in stock as he just sold the last one and
they are not being made. The following day he phoned me and said they had found this one in the warehouse.
One of the other pictures he sent me, it showed the equipment draw open in the case, the tags are there and the cord was still in a plastic bag.
I think the dealer will send it back to Fender if I don't take it.
I have asked him for a close up of the holes, once I see them I will make up my mind. The pricing is pretty good, and who knows when the next new
one will come along. Looking at one of the other pictures of the whole guitar you can badly see the hole in the front.
I have sent the pictures to fender to see what they say.

Any developments Brian??

Yes, I got an Email back from Fender today at 4:54 est here is a copy
and its not very helpful, as I do not want to get the dealer in trouble
for offering to sell me the guitar, I have not replied to him yet.
The dealer told me if I do not purchase it he will be returning it to Fender.

Hello Brian,

What is the name of the dealer that has this guitar?

The damaged Mk Stat at Willcutt Guitars is on its way back to Fender.

If Fender replace the body and stun it to Willcutt, I will think about it at that time.

So still looking, a near mint used would be my choice.
