I was listening to the MK Collaborations playlist and stumbled upon this song and noticed some similarities with 'Love and Guilt' from the Cal soundtrack, especially at the end. Both were recorded/released in 1984. A comment on YouTube notices:
It seems I read that Knopfler was stunned at the power of Scott's vocal on this track when it came in from the recording booth next to where Mark was playing the guitar.
I don't know what influenced what. Maybe Mark added his touch to the Scott Walker song, or perhaps the soundtrack piece was inspired by it.
