Give your opinion about Redbud Tree as opening song for the new album

Redbud tree is a little boring as an opener.

Think of one of my alltime faves: Darling pretty with one of MK's nicest solos.

And Piper to the End was a great closer (I don't know if the term is appropriate).

I know what you mean, but it is really just an appetizer - I am thinking too that it is a nice song but one of the weaker, or let's say more unspectacular ones... but better than giving away the best song and then everybody might be disappointed about the rest...

I really love RT. Love too it's in minor. It got me and I love the solo in the middle which is really sparkling

It's a great song, and I loved it from the first listen, it is just, there are more "direct-in-your-face" songs on the album - f.e. Gator Blood and so on...
When the album is out, no one will care about any promo track. It has not the same meaning as a single had in earlier days. Only a very little airing from radio stations, no big deal. So I guess they know that MK buyers are album buyers anyway...

I actually really really enjoy Redbud Tree, I love the haunting feel. Of course, we would all prefer it to be longer, to tell more of the story... but we can also be greedy at times

It might set the tone for the album, and it's hard to know exactly how it will play out until we get our hot little hands on the album. It could serve as a great little mood setting song, can't wait to find out!

I like the song. Like the mood and feel, but it definitely feels unfinished. And considering the other songs so far, I'm not sure it even fits the overall picture. It would have been a perfect song to put on a darker and more experimental B side of an album (or Disc 2, if the discs were thematically different), but as an opener? I guess Mark has his reasons. In my opinion, one of the better bluesier tracks would have been a more appropriate choice.
