Imagine an interview with Mark Knopfler
« on: July 26, 2012, 09:47:18 AM »
Imagine you should do an interview with Mark Knopfler about his latest album.

What would you like to ask him?

What would you really want to know about this album?

Well after listening to the clips on iTunes last night I can confirm there are no short songs;  they are all over one minute! ;D

I was just kidding of course.

I sometimes think about what I would ask him, also when I really should meet him once.
I have no idea - I would need some preparation. He seems to be so happy with what he's doing, the music speaks for itself. He has told us so many things over the last 30 years that there seems nothing
that we still don't know yet.

Maybe some some meanings (In The Sky, still unsolved for me). But I know of course what he would answer.

"Ever thought of changing Guy out of the band?" Maybe.

You seem to have missed the whole thing?

Yes it is: Go to iTunes store, change to UK store and search for Privateering. There are snippets from 1:30 from every song! Great stuff!

These are going to be dumb questions but do you need an iTunes account to access the PRIVATEERING excerpts and, if not, what is the URL for iTunes store (before you put "PRIVATEERING" into a search box)?

Just download itunes if you don't have it yet. Go to store. Choose country UK and you can listen.
No need to open an account

Back to the interview-question : If  I meet Mark  I  would tell him, how I love his songs and how I understand/interpret some of his songs. And I would ask him, how he interprets  the songs. I think you can read a lot between the lines

Jeroen, great minds think alike! (well, alright, similarly)

A couple of days ago, I was thinking how come AMIT hasn't, yet, been represented at the special promotional interviews. I mean AMIT is the best MK forum and the ones writing on it are die hard fans. Maybe we could gather a number of selected questions and send them to the management and close a telephone (or personal if someone is close by) interview, on account of AMIT.
I have tried once after the release of the KTGC, when I was working for a magazine, but I missed the deadline and I received an email that MK is not available during a tour.

So, maybe we should see if there is still time for an interview (I read somewhere that you can set one, but don't recall the dates) and start gathering nice questions.

What do you think?
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
