How the party came to be.

If memory serves me correctly, in late 2005, a chance conversation between myself and Ingrid in MK Chat, led to us finding out that in 2008, we both celebrated our 40th Birthday. Not only that, but we were both long time Dire Straits fans from the very start (77/7
We both thought what a great idea it would be to have a joint Knopfler themed party.
We invited MK forum members from all over the world.
Some coming from as far as the US AND Europe.
In all, including a good showing of Forum members, there were about 160 people in attendance.
We booked the UK's top Dire Straits Tribute Band, called 'Dire Fakes' who performed an AMAZING selection of Dire Straits classics, and a few MK solo numbers as well.
It was a night that both myself & Ingrid will never forget, as well as the forum members who came as well.
I hope that anyone who watches this, will get the feel of what was a truely SUPERB evening.
Note that alot of the guests were wearing headbands, which my wife had sewn together over a period of some weeks.
a nice touch i feel.
And WOW. What a cake.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This dvd is incredibly fun to watch! Dire Fakes were amazing and seeing the partygoers was too much fun! A real tribute to fans everywhere-especially Nigel and Ingrid, on the occasion of their 40th birthday year.

I only wish that Gerry and I could have been there.

Maybe we should have another fan celebration, in the USA, perhaps....I will be 160 years old in 2010-gives me a couple of years to plan!
