Mail from Simfy
« on: May 18, 2011, 06:42:16 PM »
Hi, folks,

earlier this year, January I think, I decided to send an e-mail to the man who made the recordings for Simfy just to tell him how great the Simfy recordings were in my opinion and to ask him about his experiences with Mark and the band. I tried to be as polite as possible and did not want to appear snoopy, but I was curious of course about how it was to travel through Europe with Mark and the band.

After nearly two months, February 28th, I finally got an answer from him! I didn't expext any post from him anymore and was surprised all the more to read his nice and rather extensive post. He allowed me to use it in any MK forum (well, I asked!), and after I finally managed to translate his lines (which is always a great challenge for me) I am able to present it to you, just in case you want to read it:

Firstly, he apologized for his late answer and explained that he had to do two other tours with German acts (PUR and Peter Maffay for those who want to know  :P) at the end of last year.

Here is what I translated from his post about the Get Lucky tour and his experience:

Marks tour was, from my point of view, in terms of music and geography the peak of the year 2010 by far

Wow LE,  It was really great to read such nice words about Mark and the band!    Thanks very much for contacting him - he seems a very friendly person.

I'm really looking forward to having more Simfy recordings from the next tour, because the ones I have  are great to listen to and bring back a lot of very happy memories!        Thanks!    :D

Pottel, I wrote him that I did not want to use it for any journalistic plans but just out of interest from a fans' point of view and that I am active at the best fan forum in the world.

His words were

"If my answers should be interesting for any fan forum, feel free to use my answers for this occasion."

That it might be that I want to release (or publish, or announce? boy, I am tired...) any of his answers in a fan forum - if he agrees... And he did. So I
"published" it today at AMIT.  :P ??? ::)

Great stuff,thanks for your efforts.

I hope they repeat the Simfy experiment as the quality of the recordings was superb.

LE, based a previous experience we had here at AMIT you may wish to remove the individual's name - I note he says "feel free to post my comments", he might not be so keen on his name being here. :)

Simfy are offering video recordings as well, there are many Simply Red video downloads available.

I hope that if for next tour Simfy is offering the concerts, we could have more formats, and not only the usb mp3 stick and the mp3 download, which were good enough, but I rather have the cds and maybe some videos...

Thanks, LE, for contacting him and for taking the time to translate his answers.   He seems like a really down to earth nice guy himself, and you are great for your efforts.
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best
To get along
