Yeah, I had to register to watch it. I am not sure why he got on TT as his platform of choice, but he's not on Instagram or elsewhere with this particular post.
It's a 10-minute story, so you have no choice but to watch it on TT ;D

So what do you think, folks? I was surprised to hear Mark auditioned 10 guitar players and cared about vibrato and dynamics so much, as well as authenticity and perfect reproducing of his guitar work. Not the words that you usually associate with Mark ;D
I thought for theatre, you just hire a professional who can sightread. But overall, I think this video is a perfect representation of how much MK cares about his music. Attention to detail, working all the time, hands-on approach. Bravo!
By the way, here are audition tapes from Lewis.

Thank you quizzaciously :)

He did an spectacular work. I remember in Chichester having to look at the musicians booth as the playing was so much MK that it sounded like if it was MK playing...

Great video. It's a pity that any of what they recorded for the musical gets a release, specially now that it looks like it's dead.

Yeah, right? So much work... Not one, but two long recording sessions... For nothing? I'm not buying the idea it will NEVER get released, but I'm sure it has to see the light of day.

Wow, I'm amazed and frightened at the same time...
I always thought that it was MK who recorded the guitar parts for the recordings that might be released if that happens any day, and now it seems that they used Lewis Turner to record the songs, playing the MK parts...
I knew that if they did a cd release, it would be a cast recording for sure but I hoped that the music would be played by MK and his musicians, according to this videos, his musicians played in the recordings but the MK parts were recorded by Lewis Turner instead of MK...
I have to admit that I had trouble understand what Lewis says in his videos but that's what it sounds to me.

I mean... Lewis is good, but if he played like THIS, no wonder Mark would stop touring :lol

It definately sounds like Mark (i would be very suprised if it turns out to be Lewis), but it was a reaction to Julio's post.

This recordings that Lewis talks, I would say, because I had problems understanding what he says, are after that demo that we have from "Rocks and Water" with MK playing the lead, which is from early 2020, if I understood it Lewis got to record prior to the Chichester shows in 2022.
The Chichester show had a totally new song (A barrel of oil) and two totally rewritten songs musically (Big Mac and Gordon, Numbers), according to Daniel Evans, it was him who asked MK for that changes so, maybe Lewis recorded just that songs as the rest were already demoed? Strange any way that MK didn't record his parts himself.

If the idea was release a cast cd, it makes sense the musicians are the ones from the play, but all of them.

I had immediately the same thought and wanted to ask. Glad you did.
But it sounds 100% MK. Lovely peace of music.
If this would have been Lewis....pheeew
