Title: Money for nothing cover
Post by: JF on June 03, 2023, 01:49:57 AM
This Wednesday, May 31, at the "Bœuf de la Vache Rouge" (Lyon), I was invited to join the members of the band Sheraf to cover Money for nothing. The band's guitarist Stéphane Jardin took charge of the iconic riff, while I improvised a solo, not at all in the style of Mark Knopfler! The aim, of course, was not to interpret the song faithfully note for note, but rather to give it a free, live version. I like the singer's improvisation on the "I want my MTV" chorus at the end.

FYI, YouTube identified Money for nothing (studio version and live 2019 version in Bergen) in the copyright search, so we were both not too far from the original and not too far from a Mark Knopfler live version!

Well done!  Good improv to make it not just another copy.
