Competing for nothing but the AMIT honor let's guess the opening song tonight. My guess (brain, not heart):
Back on the dance floor
(even though my heart wants Trapper man)
-
To guess different I'll go for Trapper Man
-
Trapper man!

Back On The Dance Floor

What it is :think But most likely it will be Trapper Man or Back on the dancefloor. It would really surprise me if it was a DS song like CE.....

Back On The Dancefloor
-
Back On The Dance Floor or Trapper Man (although I hope not TM because it's a bit too sluggish, especially as an opener).
Nobody Does That could be a fun opener too.
-
My guess would also be Back On The Dance Floor!
Trapper Man would be cool. We will see, can’t wait to find out tonight ;D
-
Back On The Dancefloor
Agree.
I would bet Heavy Up will be played at some point too given the trumpet and potential in the coda.

My guess would be : Nobody does that
I hope for : trapper man
My unlikely (but cool) guess : gravy train
I think it would be pretty cool to start with sultans of swing too !
-

Why do you guys think he would go back to openers that he already has abandoned? It doesn't make sense.

He revisited Calling Elvis in 2001 but I tend to agree with you.

NDT is quite an odd choice for an opener... Thought about the last tours and to me, Border Reiver 2010 was the best opener so far. What do you think?
-
If you consider the Dire Straits period, Calling Elvis (with the percussions starting while curtain was still closed) was the best opener ever.
I have goosebumps remembering it (I was in Lyon on April 21st, 1992).
-
Once upon a time in the west, alchemy era with Stargazer intro. Best opener period!

Agreed. Closely followed by Ride Across The River during BIA tour.

Yes I said it yesterday.
1996-2013 openers > Broken Bones > Nobody Does That
Such stupid choice to remove WAM, I really enjoyed the version from Barcelona...

It was a pretty solid opening gig but clearly the cobwebs are coming off now and the shows have been getting better. Cordoba was by far and away the best concert so far and tonight in Lisbon it might well be even better.

I don't like calling Elvis ,ride across the river, cannibals,bb ,NDT as openers , darling pretty good, but think, what it is , wye aye man, wre best by far ,down too the waterline was ok,
but just so pleased we get too see him live and i saw WAM at barcelona !!!
-
Even why aye man was a lazy choose.
They could had opened with Trapper or Back on the dance floor, and throw away Corned Beer City that is already overplayed.
-
Ride Across the River was epic. The flute intro followed by the moment Mark hit the first chord and the lights came on was just magic. And the music wasn't bad either!
-

Yes sir! And they do have all the ingredients for it on this tour (flutes, brass, percussion). Just imagine how it could sound with this band...

Opportunity missed I think. Don't see it happening now. I think it's safe to say NDT is here to stay as they've managed to link the intro with Crocks introduction and Mark walking on stage.

Yes but why the heck skip WAM? Still can't believe it...
-
There is always a possibility that WAM will be the second song in the set and they skip CBC

I doubt. It is surprisingly hard song to get running smoothly.

I may be wrong, but my impression so far is that rhythmically the band isn't super tight yet.

It was one of the few songs not played well in Barcelona. It was a pretty solid first night played "safe" by Mark (as always) but I did notice a couple of greenies in WAM.

Don't you think that opening or playing with "back on the dance floor" in his farewell tour would had been weird?
Even more than having more than 10 thousand people singing and clapping where are their bacon roll?
