Hello,
I have been looking around on the internet for a real Schecter Dream Machine like Mark had. I can't find any! Does anybody know any websites or stores I should look at to find one?
Thanks,
George

Didn't he have two - the red one (left) and the sunburst one (TOL)?

Hi George! This is not an easy one, because these are not made anymore. Occasionally, you will find these in stores or in Ebay, but these are rare and highly collectable so prices can be 4000-8000 euros. Telecasters are cheapher. These Dream Machines are from Van Nuys era of Schecter and Dallas era ones are like a total different brand (although they can be quite nice and the first one might have some Van Nuys leftover parts).

Hi - I built myself one using a Road Worn Strat and pickup assembly from Ingo

Here's a new one from Schecter, it'll be debuting at Frankfurt Musik Messe in a month or so.

Wow, me too. I guess price will be something like 3-4 grands, but... Quite don't like the headstock though, a lot better with a classic Fender's one.
Maybe, if the price will be not not 999999999 dollars (for WHAT, anyway?) I'll ended up placing MK Strat neck on it, what will be a real Dream Machine!

You think it will be that expensive? And yeah the original headstock looks better ofcourse

Don“t like the headstock. Also, they have made these before and if I remember correctly, they have only on-off switches and no tapped mics.
EDIT: they seem to have now tapped mics too. Ceramics I suppose.

Pointless.

I found a Schecter retail price at 3,699 USD!!!!
Insane...
The price seem to vanish once you click on the Schecter site but if you google "schecter sultan 3699" you'll see it, and click on the cache link.
-
For that price I'd save a few bucks more and then give Rudy a call.

Now that's pointless. Unless your name is Mark Knopfler, just don't bother, although MK himself will not bother, I guess.
Phony name for a guitar, too, by the way. Come on, Sultan? The most trivial title for any MK-related stuff in the world.

This is not the guitar that makes the guitarist but the guitarist that makes the guitar :think

I'd give Suhr a call.

I'd give Suhr a call.
Perhaps I'd call them both to ask them whether they could do something together that I've drawn on a napkin ;D

I was on the Frankfurt trade fair this week and had the Sultan prototype in my own hands.
It is light as a feather (DM's were heavy), the pickguard is plastic, small size tremolo block (non brass), Fender body shape instead of Schecter shape, wrong (very flat) dress nuts and shape of the lever switches, not really a copy of Mark's guitar. Price 4,300 Euros.

I know a place where to get much better replica stuff ;)

Did they let you also try it?

I did not play it, no opportunity. It was a trade show with dozens of guitars on the walls, not a cosy guitar shop. And I was not really interested to play it.
They also displayed there new Dream Machine 2. These were not replicas of the original Dream Machines but more modern guitars (22 frets, slanted neck heel), Monstertone pickups (ceramic, instead of alnico F500T), no brass parts etc. Price about 4,500 Euros.

Finally, I got a video finished that demonstrates the sound difference between a Schecter Dream Machine and a Fender Strat.
All riffs and licks side by side to hear the differences in tone, attack, sustain... I hope it is helpful :)
